The difference in the difference.

In the T20s, India got the better of Australia, and that is probably a true indication of the levels of the teams at that format - but as soon as (basically) the same teams play in the 50 over game, the gulf between the two teams is apparent. Both sides are stronger in the batting department than bowling, but Aus still have a pretty good bowling lineup. India got no cheap wickets yesterday, it was a matter of one good partnership after another after another for Aus.

Will this gulf become even wider in the test?

I note the test starts on Friday - no warm up match for either side, straight from the one dayers into the five day game.

And it was a huge gap....Australia win by 10 wickets! Annabel Sutherland is a special cricketer she potentially could end up being better than Ellyse Perry at her peak...

I fully agree. Nice catch in the outfield to end India's innings too. She had a very good test.

The difference in quality in the bowling of both sides widened again from the one dayers. Aus look like they have debuted a new quality seamer, in Lucy Hamilton, 3 wickets in both innings and looked pretty good with it.

Perry became Australia's highest ever score in women's test cricket, with 1004 - Sutherland is less than 300 runs behind this, and she is still well short of her 25th birthday. At least statistically, she looks like easily eclipsing Perry. Their bowling figures look fairly similar.

Yes, Sutherland has impressed me for a few years now, and I think she would have made a good choice for captain - and probably a long term one.

Is there a reason Perry dosent bowl anymore across formats? Surely she's a better option than McGrath who looks out of place in all the sides these days....
