Cook is doing ok, but Abbas is getting closer to exploiting that forward prod with seam movement on offer. Abbas playing this surface pretty well, keep it tight and let that new ball do the work.

Roots wonder form continues... poor really. Been very tame from Hasan Ali. Not much in it at all, its just a poor piece of shotmaking.

That lbw looked out to me. Umpires call though, so Cook gets away with it.

You just knew didnt you. He goes at the ball first two balls, and you just know Malan is in one of those "get bat on everything moods".....

Third ball, wafts, see you later. Rubbish

TBH Root should be devastated considering he basically given the one bowler in the pakistan team you don't want to give an early wicket too.
compare Hasan ali initial spell, when he was bowling crap and then him bowling after dismissing Root and Malan cheaply.
he even spread it to faheem Ashraf as well.

If your 40-3 after a new ball attack bowl spectacularly, then fair play. But this bowling has been pretty tame and negative to be honest. Not really a criticism of Pakistan at all, they seem to have realised that England's batsman only need a prod, and they throw themselves into the fire, but I havent seen much to conclude that there isnt a score on offer for batters who arent going to play like morons.

Cook is a case in point. He's put away some bad balls, and his false shots when they come are defensive, not Malan or Root style aggressive swipes. Cook has watched a few go past the edge, but if everyone comes in and bats like him on this surface, you wouldnt lose 3 wickets in the first hour.

Yeah was just gonna say that, it is actually depressing that england are 59/3 against a decent average attack when they been bowling average decent stuff.

he's having a go... expressing himself... it's the way to go and I heartily approve

I'd much rather England had a right old go at run a ball cricket and get out for 150, than play sensibly and rack up 400..... what women and children would pay money to watch that?

That's more than 100 balls though. Who wants that?
