Trott has Moores' backing but Tredwell picked up a strain in the first Test.

If Tredwell is unfit, must be a good chance Rashid will make his debut.

Though this is rated the most spin friendly ground. It at least would rule out the two off spinners as an option. Chances are, they'll go back to four seamers at Barbados, even if they do pick two in Grenada.

I think they will go with this side -

Cook
Trott
Bell
Ballance
Root
Stokes
Buttler
Tredwell/Ali
Jordan
Broad
Anderson.

Yes, it's that bad.

Yes, apart from Bell and Ballance being the other way round.

I would like to see Wood for Jordan, just for the fact he has a bit more pace, apparently.

Jordan is a must for the next Test. With all the spin bowling you are hoping to see, he will be vital at slip.

I'm not convinced Jordan is a good enough bowler to keep his place due to his slip fielding. If this was the case, Hick would have played over 100 tests.

Jordan is an exceptional new ball bowler, and a pretty average one with the old ball. If he is going to play for England then he has to replace Broad, but that would literally never happen.

Rashid and Lyth have to play in this test imo. What kind of statement do England want to make when they have two guys in the squad in form, but will not drop players who have consistently been unreliable for long periods.

Id also not really give Trott much longer either. In fact, as stated above, id play the Yorkshire lad over him.

I don't think anyone can say with any significant confidence that they thought after the last NZ tour, he ever looked like he had the game to play at the very top level. Teams just realised they bowl short to him, or never straighten onto his pads, and that took a lot of his game away from him in scoring runs.

Maybe his depression/stress issues masked an obvious lack of precision in his technique for two years? By 2013, he was struggling to defend his stumps at times, and when he did stick in and score runs it was often like watching teeth being pulled.

Either way, I think its insulting to pick a guy who was prime for a dropping for a long time, and put him in the position of another on form guy. Asking Trott to open is near the top of England's dumb list from 2013 onwards.

Why would you pick a player who has to prove his worth to his team, has had stress issues, and integrate him back into the team in an alien role that he then has to put more time into learning, and with the pitfalls of failure wider? Sums up Moores really

I'll have to take your word for that.

Is Lyth in form? Played one warm up, and failed.
