He was bowling mostly under 83mph compared to Stokes bowling at 86mph+. I think he was looking for swing and sometimes that doesn't come at high speeds.

Thanks. That's sursprising, he seems to be intimidating the batters with pace, and hitting the gloves fairly often. Dare I say, a bit of an enforcer.

I think Cook feels obliged to give first go to his senior bowlers and why not, they've served him well over the years. I doubt that Woakes is ether surprised or upset by it, after all he's shown he can do ok with an older ball.

I imagine they plan to share the bowling out ...no need to overtax any of them ; with no doubt an intention to bowl again once they have finished this innings.
Don't see that it matters a lot what order they bowl in , with the ball already 23 overs old at the start. Anderson usually gets Shan...and he did.
The rain break actually helped England again in enabling them all to have a bit of a rest. Still have to get one of these two out ; but there isn't much after...
