Pretty solid resistance for the sixth wicket. Maybe I'll try making a sandwich.

Holder and da Silva stage a recovery to 194-5 at tea.

IMHO the West Indies were too quick to discard Blackwood and Lil Bravo. You only do that when the replacements are better. I don't think McKenzie is an improvement.

Is Louis better than Chanderpaul Jr? I'm not sure about that.

Holder got his half century. It's a pity da Silva missed out on his.

Three wickets for WI. Both openers and night watchman (Mark Wood) dismissed. After some attacking shots Zak edged one to keeper trying to hit cover drive on the up. Ben Duckett out playing attacking shot as well.

England will probably be rueing bowling so fast (only 4 overs short today) that they had to face all those overs at the end of the day when all they really wanted to do was have a bite, a nap and maybe a game of wordle or candy crush

Very unprofessional from England....there was a time when they would have bowled WI out in 75.1 overs with no time left in the day to have to bat themselves. It's all about game management, they could have started their innings in the morning as fresh as daisies, rather than after 6 hours in the field, if they hadn't been so impulsive and reckless with their over rates.

They only have themselves to blame :slap

Funny old day of cricket. Looks like a road - but the only times the actual cricket reflected that was the opening stand and that Holder - Da Silva partnership. Guess the ball swung a bit but still...

With that start (even allowing one of the wickets was a "nighthawk") England have a bit more work than usual ahead of them to get to 400. West Indies once again in the contest - at least for now. Which I guess is more interesting than all out 150 and England 180/3.

Some very uneven bounce. Maybe this is going to get tough to bat on. Sideways movement too, though mostly swing. I got the impression WI have a decent total.

Hundred partnership. Sorely needed, but still a long way behind, and England have to bat last.

:d'oh:
Root 58 not out

Partnership over 100.

Alzarri short ball finally works. Stokes out for 54.

Root lbw Motie for 87.

That missed review only cost 84 runs.

Shame Smith didn't get a ton. But there's going to be a significant lead. Seems unlikely the WI bats will stand up to the pressure.
