India making hard work of it. Surely the ICC hasn't asked India to take a fall?

Somehow 11 sides have played 3 games while NZ are still sitting on 1 after a week and a half, then NZ are playing 3 matches in 6 days.

Schedule is just strange.

Group 1 is all down to Ireland and the weather. A washout in either game sends Pakistan home. And the weather forecast looks pretty bad...

The TMS podcast today was 'where has it all gone wrong for England' which seems a little unfair. Sure, we lost to a strong Australia squad, but we could easily go home having lost just one game, thanks to the weather. And that's nobody's fault.

Reminds me of Australia in the 2017 CT. Sometimes it rains. You don't just need good players to win a major tournament, you need a bit of luck too.

Or maybe they are. What a turnaround. WI recover from 22-4 after 6 and 77-7 after 13 to post 149, with 37 runs off the last 2 overs with the final wicket partnership (which NZ had to bowl part timers as they got WI 9 down but failed to take the 10th).

Then NZ slump to 64-5 and now 117-9 with 1 over left.

Kiwis are on the plane home unless Afghanistan get thrashed by PNG and WI.

Given there is basically no benefit from qualifying top of a group, there could be a lot of dead rubbers from Saturday. If USA beat Ireland and Afghanistan beat PNG all the remaining group A and C matches are meaningless.

Group B will be settled before the last match if England lose or N/R in either remaining game, and even then Aus/Scot may be effectively meaningless if England don't massively improve their NRR.

Group D should remain alive until the at least the penultimate match. Netherlands/SL may be irrelevant.
