But aren't all countries struggling to find apair of opening batsmen?

Looking forward to this contest.

Shame about Anderson but we still have a good attack.

South African conditions should suit all our seamers perfectly

Finn will especially enjoy the extra pace and bounce

But judging by the whitewash, that's not what the batters like.

Great start for South Africa getting Cook. Steyn is bowling very well.

As an aside, I am getting rather fed up of seeing that Hales only averages 38 in First Class cricket in the media. Never a mention that he's averaged essentiallly 50 for the last two seasons, a better run than any other opener in the country.

Steyn seems always to save something for England.

Huge difference in class between the bowling at each end.

Forecast good after today.

I'm willing Hales to get some runs after the press he's had.

The SR of the Super-Human Steyn against England is an almost mortal 55.

Looking this up, the best of anyone v England since 2000, to take at least ten wickets (15) is Kane Williamson.

In SA 35 wickets in 6 test matches is not bad.

Bit of a disappointing start both to Cook and the weather.

Really tough debut for Hales; Steyn bowling fantastically, starts to get set then off they come for the rain and has to do it all over again. Likely will be forgotten rather quickly
