John Terry's leaving Chelsea. Arrogant he may be but he was a great player for them.

Bit of a shock although it was bound to happen sooner or later.

I never liked him for his off field shenanigans but you couldn't question his commitment on the field.

Terry was all over the news this morning. I have no idea why anyone would give a sh1t (apart from Chelsea fans, of course) so why this was a national news item, rather than a local London news item is beyond me, frankly

there must have been a paucity of sporting news items available. (if only it had been Aus Open finals day yesterday... or a round of the FA cup, then this might not have occured).

I wonder how many noughts it took to persuade Pellegrini to smile and be supportive to a club that have told him he's sacked at the end of the season?

at least 6, I'd imagine

Neville should head back to being a pundit. From there he can talk a good game.

Yeah he'll be learning now that theory and practice are two different things. He was a very good defender and reads the game well but getting eleven men to carry it out is another matter.

Looks like the Chinese League may be a one to keep an eye on over the next few years.

Making some big signings at present. Seems to be a lot of money around there.

Hardly inspiring at all, in fact all these transfers prove is that the Chinese League can sign failed players for 4 times there market value and pay way over the odds for rubbish players in wages.

Jackson Martinez scored two goals in his time at A. Madrid, and was seen widespread as an utter failure. They must be laughing they bought a giant turkey who turns 30 soon, and someone ended up paying more to buy him off them. In fact, it was debated for a while that Madrid would do with him, because they spent so much money on him, it was unlikely they could sell him for how bad he was.

Teixiera? Never lived up to the hype. 50 million for a player who cant get a cap in the poorest Brazil team in 70 years while they are crying out for midfielders of his type = failure. He isnt very good, the price tag is utterly ridiculous.

Ramires? Would have ended up in a rubbish league like Greece on a pay cut of 400% anyway once Chelsea had finished with him, he isnt a top player and never was, and Chelsea finally realised that.

Lets hope Sunderland do the honourable thing and make sure he is unemployed before the end of the day. I have a little sympathy with these types of charges, as you dont often insist on seeing a girls passport before taking her home, but in this instance he seemed to know she was under age, and that is bottom of the barrel behaviour.

I hope he enjoys his time in a cell.

If he did know its bang out of order. My daughter is 15 and if I discovered some twenty something bloke had taken advantage of her knowing her age I'd want him put away.

On the other hand we don't know how sexually mature this female was and how much she contributed to the act of criminality. Of course the law is the law and he's clearly broken.

Not sure if he can be classified as a paedophile?

Yes, I believe he would be because its an under age sexual offence.

I also believe he specifically pleaded guilty to knowingly engaging in sex with a minor. They texted each other, iirc, and she said she was under age but he still met up with her and did the deed. Not much excuses, which is why he has pleaded guilty I guess.

He probably will get the tag but is he really a paedophile in the true sense of the word?

Mind you it could be the thin end of the wedge.

Graham Rix committed a similar offence, although he was over 40 at the time, served six months inside.

Of course, not every person is as immature or mature as the next, but you need to set the bar somewhere? Different and lengthy debate that.

I remember a case in America a few years back where a teacher was charged with having sex with a 15 year old. She was convicted, and appealed her decision all the way up to the supreme court. By the time she had her case heard years later, she had married him and had a child with him, and he was 24.

She was then told she needed to go to jail for 19 years for raping him. :facepalm
