I see Attwell embarrassed himself yesterday.

after the WH keeper banged his head on the post and went down, he told him twice to get up. The keeper did and threw the ball down for a goal kick, but he threw it several yards in front of himself and then just stood looking at it. He didn't even move when Gakpo sprinted forward looking for all the world as though he was going to slide the ball into the net, while the keeper stood there (I presume dazed) but he pulled out at the last minute. Only at this point did Attwell blow his whistle and went to have a word with him and wave for the medics to come on. Gakpo saved him really, because he was probably well within his rights to slot that ball home and then Attwell would have had to face a storm of protests

Useless refereeing. Thank goodness he isn't representing this country in the Euro's or anything daft like that..... oh wait

I saw the 3 penalty shouts and if I'm honest, I thought that the first one was a dive; there was contact, but not much and the player paused as if weighing up his options before deciding to go down. The second one I didn't think was a handball, because he was running back at speed when the ball struck him at point blank range and so to me his arm was not in an unnatural position (nothing says unnatural like a defender trying to run fast with his arms behind his back). The third one was just a penalty every day of the week. I have no idea why it wasn't overturned.

seems the key match incident panel agreed with me.... 5-0 no pen for the first, 3-2 no pen for the second and 5-0 definite pen for the third.

I see Shef Utd have the unwanted record of most goals conceded in a 38 match PL campaign, with 3 left to play. 97 totally smashing the record by the infamous 07-08 Derby team (89). , With 3 games to play they could easily break the all time record (100) for PL goals conceded when you factor in 42 match seasons. Goal difference isn't as bad as Derby, but again, 3 games to go...

A small mitigating factor is that there have been more goals in general in PL games than ever before. The BBC article a few weeks ago put that mainly down to the increased injury time being played - more live minutes of football = more goals. But still, it's been a pretty poor show from Sheffield. For a while I thought they were going to amass fewer points than Derby...

Tonali receives another 2 month ban, suspended for the 24/25 season, for breaches committed between becoming a Newcastle player and the historic betting violations becoming public.

I was worried they might simply extend the existing ban further, but seemingly it was the player himself who made the authorities aware of the extra breaches and that seems to have influenced the outcome

Burnley in big trouble after a hammering by Newcastle and a win for Forest. 5 points from safety and 2 matches to play, but they might have the opportunity to drag Forest down with them on the last game of the season
