I didn't know (or if I did, I'd forgotten) that Ellie Roebuck has been out for almost a year after suffering a stroke. That's quite extreme for a 25 year old. She played her first game for Barca at the weekend

I presume that brings the curtain down on Newcastle's participation in the league cup, although I don't actually know what happens next

Away to Man Utd tonight. A gulf in quality between the two sides, but 5-3 was an interesting scoreline. The two sides actually put the ball in the net the same number of times. Newcastle had 7 shots, with 3 on target and 3 goals. Man U had 22 shots with 10 on target and 5 goals (one of which was an OG).

So, in review against 3 WSL teams, they drew with Everton, but lost the pen shoot out, got mullered by Liverpool, but then played their part in a bit of a thriller. These are the level of teams that Newcastle aspire to reach and there is still a long way to go, but it won't hurt to let the owners actually see the road ahead while pondering the direction of travel

The hosts get the easiest draw, funny that, followed by the world champions

Groups C and D look pretty tough to me. It was nailed on that England and Wales were destined to meet and I imagine England will be very happy about that.... it might be the only match they win, unless they can find some quicker centre backs

Sunderland and Newcastle both made it through to the FA cup 5th round unscathed, although Newcastle could easily have lost to Forest in that 4th round tie

Durham, for some reason, don't play their 4th round game until the end of this month. An away fixture at Brighton

jeez... I've just seen the own goal that Newcastle conceded yesterday. What a bloody cock up. The defender plays a long back pass to the keeper in the middle of the box. Under no pressure whatsoever, the keeper tries to lump the ball forward without controlling it first, air kicks it and can't recover in time to stop the ball trickling in at the far post. Hopeless

fortunately Newcastle managed to scramble an injury time equaliser, but it was as clear a case of shooting yourself in the foot as you are ever likely to see

Stupid defending from Little has pretty much handed Chelsea the title.

A win for Newcastle, but they made it a lot harder than it should have been against rock bottom 2 point Portsmouth. After going 2-0 up they then contrived to let Pompey equalise, before (presumably) gratefully accepting a Portsmouth OG for 3 points

Been struggling a bit of late have Newcastle. They started the season brightly enough, but they are way off the pace atm. I guess there was an awfully long winter break, punctuated by difficult matches against WSL teams in the league cup. Whilst only one team has conceded fewer goals than Newcastle, all of the teams above them have scored more. Their current 7th place feels about right for this team. They'll need to invest in a bit more quality ahead of next season. There's no PSR in this game, but sadly there's no Amanda Staveley anymore either

they've made 2 signings this week. An England U23 winger from Villa and an ROI international striker fresh from a stint over in the States.

I have no idea what quality they will bring, but at least the club also recognise the need to strengthen up top

Newcastle did well to salvage a draw yesterday against Southampton. They were pretty much played off the park by the home side for an hour, conceded 2 very early goals and only really woke up with half an hour to go. A great turn and shot pulled one back, both sides then hit the bar, before Newcastle levelled from a corner in stoppage time. Having conceded 2 goals in the first few minutes, Newcastle really had to push players forward, but they looked really vulnerable to the counter. You'd think the Newcastle players were running in treacle when having to get back.
