I was rather afraid of that after the first round of games. Nigeria are a well-organised side and Australia without Sam Kerr lack a cutting edge. Now Australia are going to have to beat Canada to progress or go home early from their own world cup, which will be quite the disappointment. And beating Canada is not going to be at all easy.

Another 1-0 scoreline for England, but it sounds like Walsh might be out for the rest of the tournament after a nasty knee injury. Katie Zelem might have to be ready to step up.

I went back and watched most of today's game on the iplayer. Good goal from Lauren James

SW had her pragmatic head on for this second match. Daly started at LB with Greenwood moving to left half. Beth England got on the pitch late on

England really looked the part for the first quarter of the game, until Denmark put them under a bit of pressure around the 30 min mark. The last 15 mins of both halves got a little bit harum scarum at times. Late on in the game the Danes were beating England to every ball and England looked tired despite all their possession. With England having 75% of the play it should have been Denmark who were tiring at the death, not the other way around. The WSL season finished a couple of months ago, so the players will have had a decent period of rest heading into this WC, so that rather suggests to me that England have perhaps got their preparation wrong. They certainly didn't arrange much in the way of friendlies before the tournament started (only 2, I think), so I'm beginning to think that the players aren't yet physically ready for this. Well, they'll have to be ready in another week's time. Russo and Toone haven't impressed me in the first 2 games and the back four still need more game time because they keep getting caught on the counter. That may be because Daly and Bronze were pushing forward at every opportunity and that might have to become a little more considered after the China game. Walsh will be a miss if her tournament is over. I was a bit surprised that it was Coombs and not Zelem who replaced her today

France get a big fat scare, but are ultimately gifted a goal by Brazil to clinch the game.

I watched France in complete control for the parts of the first half that I saw. Then after an hour Brazil woke up, scored an equaliser and then spent the next 15 mins terrorising France. They were all over them... the intensity was up, the press was high, the French players didn't look as though they even knew which direction they were playing, then Brazil forgot to mark Renard at a corner and handed her the easiest header at the back post that she'll ever get. A real shame for Brazil, but they only have themselves to blame. Shambolic defending for the winner

The knee injury to Walsh is not an ACL injury, thankfully. She will definitely miss the China game, but hasn't yet been ruled out of the tournament
