don't ask me what the prediction was, because once I realised the depths they were plumbing, I switched the telly off

Earlier in the week a reporter was interviewing a British couple who were at their 9th world cup (it's their thing, I suppose). The woman said she was enjoying the 'festival' vibe at this world cup and that as a woman she found the atmosphere around the venues much less intimidating than at other world cups she'd attended, which she put down to the absence of alcohol.

I found that really interesting, tbh

good, open first half. Morocco are looking good for their lead. Much the more attacking side. They've worried me a few times playing out from the back against the Portugal press, but they've done it without too many alarms and then they counter at pace. I'm very impressed by them. Portugal have made a couple of subs and the winker is on, but they've got work to do

Morocco in danger of doing 'an England'. They were great in the first half, but they're dropping deeper and deeper now. All Portugal atm. Morocco need to break the shackles or they'll be in trouble

Morocco fans nerves will have been shredded, but they managed to cling on to their one goal lead by their finger tips

There's your African nation, SP, and they deserve to be in the semi's. First Belgium, then Spain and now Portugal... can't argue with that, really

Fernandes had a poor game, I thought. His set piece delivery was pretty woeful all night and squandered a lot of Portugal's most dangerous positions

I still don't know how El Nasyri jumped that high for the goal. It was like he had Inspector Gadget legs

Win tonight and we really do have a great chance of winning the World Cup, given the teams left. Tonight though is the biggie!

France score after a clear foul on saka..

And whoever is in the bar box who thought kane was not fouled, outside the box either way, needs shooting

Ref has missed fouls everywhere
