I think most teams will be pushing for Ronaldo to start after that.

So, France, then probably Portugal (or Morocco), then most likely Brazil.

Looks daunting, but if you want to win the world cup, you have to earn it by beating the best.

What on earth is going on with these penalties ? I thought England were bad at the shootouts but Japan and Spain have set a new low bar with those efforts...

Really hope we don't have too many more (preferably none !) of these games settled by spot kicks.

QFs look quite interesting. You'd think Brazil are nailed on to see off Croatia ; but the attack of Portugal v stubborn Moroccan defence could be more of a contest than would have seemed likely before the rounds. Only 1 goal in four games the Africans have conceded - though Portugal is a bit of a step up.

Netherlands and Argentina - I fancy the Dutch but you could toss a coin. And I nurse high hopes for England against France - must be a good chance whoever wins this one will at least make the final ?

Couple of good nights sleep first...

How did Danilo not get a red card then?

Croatia have done well here. Game plan has worked really well. They'll be much happier than Brazil with extra time. They've defended well and given themselves a chance of continuing to do that by keeping possession for decent periods of time and denying Brazil the ball

No fireworks, but quite an enthralling match

Michael Oliver continues the trend of Ashington punching above its weight in sport

Neymar has been thoroughly underwhelming all afternoon, so it'll probably be him with the moment of magic that Brazil need

Brazil caught on the break 3 minutes from the end.... If I'm the manager, I make the team walk back to the hotel, even if they win

Just replaying that Croatia goal....6 Brazilians are in front of the ball when it breaks to modric... Unforgivable
