West Ham fans disgrace themselves throwing projectiles at opposing players. Fiorentina fans disgrace themselves fighting and brawling in the streets both before and after the game. Fiorentina players disgrace themselves play acting, feigning injury and rolling around at every opportunity. West Ham players scoring higher marks than Tom Daley when in the box.

I'm glad I didn't waste my time watching it. Sounds like exactly the kind of spectacle that no sport needs, let alone one in the spotlight. 3 European finals, two mired in misery with attritional football and bad behaviour from almost everyone involved, one still to play...... will the weekend show football in a better light? There was a massive WH contingent in the ground by all accounts.... far exceeding the 5,000 tickets they were allocated. So where did all the extra tickets come from?

If football really did want to purge itself of bad behaviour off the pitch, and I'm not convinced it really does, that might be a good place to start
