Season starts on Saturday 30 July with the Community Shield between Manchester City and Liverpool...earlier than normal?

Huddersfield vs Burnley on Friday night. Two teams who'll be looking to get up this season.

automatic lifetime bans for pitch invaders who get recognised from this season..... good luck with that at lower league games, but at least they're finally talking a bit tougher than simply telling away teams to bring their own stewards with them

I'd be delighted with 8th.

I'd like a tilt at winning the league cup, instead of putting weakened teams out. Come on Eddie... be brave. The manager who delivers a trophy to Newcastle will become a legend.... which is why I've never understood why successive managers have always ignored silverware. Not even a final since the two FA cups at the end of last century

has there been a semi final?

confident start from Newcastle, but there will be sterner tests in the next few weeks. The away games at Brighton and Wolves will tell us a fair bit more than the season opener

Manchester United sixth? After losses to Brighton and Brentford, I think they're relegation zone material.

I watched the highlights of the 4-0 drubbing and they were utterly dreadful, which I quite enjoyed, in truth, because for much of the Fat Lad era it was only ever Newcastle who were that shambolic
