I'd have bitten anyone's hand off for a 0-0 at Stamford Bridge and it nearly happened, but not to be. 89th minute winner for Chelsea and a first league defeat for Newcastle this year

You should have had a penalty. You can see why players go down easily, can't you!

Great take and finish by Havertz. Class player.

I read that. Had his shirt tugged not once but twice in the box, seemingly.... I'll have a look tonight on MOTD. Against the top teams, those are rarely given. Doubtless VAR will have had a look, so it is what it is..... I forget which game it was, but Newcastle were recently the recipient of a goal being allowed to stand after one of those handballs where it just touched his sleeve, but was clearly handball by any other measure, so swings and roundabouts

hard to know quite why both ref and VAR thought the challenge was okay. He grabs the shirt as Murphy drives into the box and gives it a tug to stop him doing him on the bye line; Murphy keeps going so he gives it another tug, which also doesn't stop him, so bundles him over. Not a penalty, seemingly. First tug would have been given if it had happened at the other end..... hey ho

We could potentially have a Chelsea vs Liverpool final in the CL final as well as the FA Cup final, after them both being in the League Cup final.

I initially misread this and thought they were asking the semi to be moved to Wembley, which seemed insane.

Under the circumstances, it seems eminently sensible. Surely a neutral stadium in the northwest can be found (Old Trafford?).

yesterday was a caning at the hands of Spurs. After the first 20 mins or so, Spurs had had 83% possession.

Last year 29 points would have kept a team in the league, but four times in the last 5 years it needed 35 points. Newcastle have 31 points so there is still work to do yet. They play Norwich later this month, so a win there would virtually get the job done. I wouldn't want to see them needing points against Burnley in the last match of the season.

In the 4 years since Newcastle last got promoted back into the Prem, they have either finished with 44 or 45 points, so they look likely to finish well below that tally this year

An exciting match ruined by the referee. Thiago should have been booked 7 times, and if the VAR ref doesn't think studs up challenges above the ankle are red cards, then he should be fired.

Of course, this being Liverpool the FA are compelled to tell us why the ref got it right...

I expect sometime next week for them to tell us some Burnley player doing the same is a clear red card. Like when they clarified Allan from Everton in a mirror image foul is as a straight red.

The FA seem to want Liverpool to win
