I'm by nature a glass half empty person, so when people were talking Fabrice Muamba, I was thinking about Marc-Vivien Foe

I'm glad I was the one way off the mark. I was delighted to find out that they'd got him stable. They seemed to be working on him for an eternity. Really distressing. When I saw his wife with Schmeichel, I was in bits

He's alive, which is a great start, but there might be a lot of recovering to do.... they were working on him for a very long time

I wish him the very best

Kjaer was over with the wife as well, but yeah, heartbreaking moment to witness. Both teams can be proud of their conduct. The Danish protecting the players dignity by forming a wall round him was true class. And Finland also handled it with class.

Kjaer quickly cleared Eriksen's airways, seemingly. That was smart work and was probably what gave the medics the opportunity to save his life.

that's pretty heroic in my book.... keeping your head together like that in a crisis. It's what true captain's are made of

Stable but unlikely to play again. The longer he was down the worse it seemed but thanks to his captain and medical staff, he's alive.

England Croatia soon

I haven't changed my mind from a week ago....... I reckon Southgate will go with 5 at the back and 2 defensive mids. Kane up top and a couple of whippets to try and hit Croatia on the break

Ultra defensive and a bit of hit and hope

2/3 possession for Croatia

Belgium beat Russia 3-0.

Could this be their year?

Well 3 points. Croatia were average imo but the result was massive. Surely both teams will improve and in Croatia's case, they'll have to.

Excellent goal btw. Phillips was picked for his energy and drive and supplied the assist when he did drive. Nice finish from Sterling.

Much better than I expected. I was preparing myself for the worst, but based on the first quarter and the last quarter that I saw, this wasn't the case.

I'm so pleased it was Sterling that scored the goal. That'll settle him down before the usual 'never scores at a major tournament' papers rubbish started. Now they'll just say he never scores when it matters

Good start

I noted Mount and Foden started? How were they?

Is Shaw injured?

Bit harsh on Grelish maybe after the last 2 games? Not watched anything so just going by the snippets i have ben reading.

Foden was okay. He hit the upright in the first half with a shot that he should have forced a save from the keeper. He faded a bit in the second half and was subbed. The heat?

Mount was okay, I thought without being spectacular. I think Shaw is injured.

Mings, Phillips and Sterling were very good IMHO. Justified the decision to start Sterling ahead of Grealish.

Austria beat North Macedonia 3-1.

Mings is the weak link imo. Played ok today but Croatia had nothing up front. Phillips was very good. Not seen much have him before.

Phillips had the kind of game that will be making every director of football in Europe reaching for the cheque book. Great assist, and he was everywhere.

The rest were competent. Sterling missed a good chance, kane missed a sitter, foden missed a good chance.
