They gambled a lot early season by never resting anyone and even naming full squads for the World Championships, and in a way they were just starting to see that tiredness take hold around February, as the form started to dip with 3 or 4 losses by memory. Not that it would have made a difference, they could have lost every post Coronavirus game and arguably finished 1st. But they it was risky. I guess you can say any team needs a little luck, but their top players never ever get injured, while City have had De Bruyne, Laporte and Aguero always seemingly struggling in recent times.
In fact, I read something that suggested Liverpool have had one "first team" player injured for more than a couple of weeks all season, the goalkeeper Allison who missed 6 odd games. Keita was out for a few, after that hardly anyone has missed a game.... the front three are permanently fit.
Their squad after that first 11 is very shallow. In fact, considering their success youd do well to show another team thats won every title available in 12 months with player quality in the second XI falling away so badly. They havent needed to use it though, so it doesnt matter.
A few injuries next year and unless they spend money on the squad, they could fade quickly. Need another CF, CB some better back up fulls. I cant see young lads like Robbo and Trent playing the amount they have season over season.
