I take the point but the Man City manager, players and fans seemed pretty upset if it doesn't mean anything.
At least this means they can't top 1999 this season

I remember it being a pretty unremarkable year
Man City were 2-0 down going into injury-time of the play-off, before staging the greatest last gasp comeback of that season or any other. With the possible exception of their injury-time winner to seal the title in 2012.
