Ah, well done Ginger..... nice!

I've never been to Wembley (it was at Wembley, surely)

Chelsea seem to be streets ahead of the rest atm

Yeah Wembley. 49,000 in there, which is a record for the Women's cup final. May have even been more if Man City men weren't playing away at West Ham.

a really good result for the lionesses last night against the Netherlands. Coming back from a goal down to win 5-1.... very impressive

I wonder where the match was shown. I didn't notice it anywhere

I'm not sure tbh. A lady from my daughter's Football team bought them for a few of the families and we (my wife) gave her the money. Think Putellas is out, which is a shame. I was looking forward to watching her.

Good first half

impressive crowd of nearly 69,000

I thought England 'wandered' a bit in the second half. According to the commo's the three players who came on in a triple substitution added some much needed energy and impetus and showed that the future of England football was in good hands, but from where I was watching England were in full control beforehand and once the subs had been made they spent the rest of the match on the back foot and ended up having to hang on a bit, so make of that what you will

Quite a few England players were not at their best tonight, but hopefully that will change over the coming matches. Bronze had an excellent first half, Bright was magnificent all night, Williamson was pretty solid, Walsh looked in control of the middle of the park for the first hour and Earps saved the ones she had to save with no alarms. Everyone else looked slightly off, but hey.... first match nerves and all that. The subs added nothing for me, but took quite a lot away

A win is a win though, and in tournament football it doesn't matter how you start as long as you keep winning

The commentary was horrendous all night. At one point one of the pundits said its a major tournament, but the most important thing is to have fun....

If women want to support their own game, then treat these ladies like professional sportspeople. The soppy, nicey nicey stuff goes out the window. I cant imagine England's men winning 1-0 in a bit of a meh performance against a non-favourite, and people being so positive. I think if someone suggested a male tournament was just an opportunity for fun, theyd go missing..... I find it quite insulting to the ladies to be honest.

As for England, they had a few wobbles despite being superior. Threw away a lot of openings early, then gradually faded out. Austria caused a few issues, but nothing really. 6/10 for the performance, need to step it up if they want to win it

Plenty of patronising at times in Women's Football from the media.
England did look a tad nervous last night at the back. Maybe Williamson should play in midfield with Greenwood coming back in at CB? Ellen White seems to miss more chances than an England great should. Are her best days behind her? Beth England imo is not the answer, and I've seen little of Russo to say she should start.
3 points though and a clean sheet to boot.

I suppose White's great strength is when she's one on one with the keeper and that didn't happen last night. England seemed a little reluctant to shoot, I thought. Tried to walk it into the back of the net too much.

I thought that they had NI next, which would give them another chance to settle into the comp before the potential Norway banana skin, but it appears that isn't the case, so they will have to be 'on it' on Monday evening.

Final ball was often poor from the flanks for me. England got the ball into decent areas, but the full backs particularly couldn't exploit the opportunities. Bronze had a poor game, I seen one paper say she was great, but for all the endeavor it was her channel that caught out on the break more often than not, and the final delivery was often to no one. Ellen White also missed that sitter in the first half that would have ended the game, has to do better in other matches.

I thought Bronze looked good in the first half, but then she was going forward for most of that half. Second half after the subtitutions she was having to go backwards all the time and she's a much better player going forward

I thought Norway would be 10 goals up by now (75th minute), but instead they're only winning 4-1. I actually stopped watching after the first 20 mins or so, because I feared NI were going to be utterly crushed and I don't take much pleasure in watching that. NI ought to be tiring by now, so the floodgates might open yet
