Not only have Arsenal and Chelsea only been given 6000 tickets each for the final in Baku, but according to BBC, there are no direct flights scheduled to Baku from London other than 3 days before and 3 days after. Also the final starts at 11 pm local time.

Another win for Uefa. Idiots.

European final held in.....Asia.

I said this a while back, but it's like when Scotland had to play recently in Astana..... The city is a stone's throw from Xinjiang in China. How can that be considered Europe? It's so far past the Urals, its not funny.

And people get on Scotland's back when they turn up for a midweek game having flown 7 hours, 5.5 hours time difference, in -25 weather to play a game. It's strictly unfair.

Baku is a weird place. I hate to think of the carnage that a load of Chelsea fans could cause after a few beers. The police there love targeting tourists for bribes too.

All that oil money must have changed hands to cloud uefas judgement again

Yes, I have been to Baku and Azerbaijan. I nearly spent a lot more time than I wanted there after my wife's performance at the border. I told her a thousand times.... "If the border guard says anything about Armenia, sees the Armenia stamp in your passport, or asks directly about Karabakh, you should repeat as many times as necessary in any language you can speak.... yox Karabakh, niet karabakh, je ne suis pas alle Karabakh, Karabkah nien nien ich war nicht, NEI NEI Karabkah.... NO NO KARABAKH..... I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO KARABAKH". Extra points are awarded if you can (a) make a remark that Armenia was a sh*thole (b) say you would never consider going to Azerbaijani sacred territory while Armenia have stole it from them.

She goes first to the guy at the border..... opens her passport, sees the Armenian stamp. One word..... "karabakh?".

She pretends not to understand....

"Karabakh?"

She pretends again not to understand

"KARABAKH"

She tries to fake a look of confusion badly

"KARABAKH!!! KARABAKH!!! KARABAKH!! ( at this point hes gone full downfall Hitler, slamming his fist with everyword).....

:facepalm :facepalm :facepalm

In the end I had to shout over to him and explain in bad Russian that she was very mentally disabled, and that she couldnt understand him at all... and no, we had definitely not been to Karabakh. Which he didnt like. Phone calls to superior were made, three people arrived to discuss it all, the world Karabkah was screamed at us another few times, before passports were begrudgingly stamped and we could leave.

She is lucky I didnt throw her out the mini bus after we drove away.

A few years ago there was a push to market Azerbaijan to skiers from Europe. No idea what came of it.

Is it worth a visit? Not for winter activities but more so for curiosity.
