Yep looks like a red to me as well.

Even Newcastle fans at the time thought it was a red and were saying he was silly for reacting. That was during the match after replays.

He lashed out with a kick, because it did not make much contact is irrelevant. It is a red card.

The angle on that video is deceptive. From that view it looks like as he lands, he studs Landsbury in the chest/head area. The side on view from the linesman position actually shows that the boot is vertical in the air and nowhere near Landsbury, and shows that Shelvey is just trying to free his legs. Its actually contact from Landsbury that initiates it... its Shelvey which is being fouled.

Are we looking at the same thing SP?

He lashes out, regardless of the foul from Landsbury which is not in question.

You can not kick out like that regardless of if contact has been made.

The FA has set a dangerous precedent by over turning this.

Soft red card, yes, but it is a red card, One can not kick out like that.

Must say I'm surprised the Shelvey red was overturned. Very rare to get one overturned, let alone 2! Sort of feels to me like the FA are trying to make up for all the other decisions in a match where we were effectively cost 3 points by the ref.

There was definitely a sly kick from Shelvey. Lucky man.

The FA obviously realised that Shelvey is the heart beat of the Newcastle team and that having him missing for 3 games after their recent poor results would not be good for Newcastle and their attempts to get back into the premiership. Shelvey also has a aggravated misconduct charge against him relating to using inappropriate language against an opponent. Basically he is being accused of using racists language. If found guilty of these charges that will be at least a 5 game ban. So the FA have decided that it is best to overturn Shelveys red card against Forest because a big team like Newcastle can not afford to be with out their best midfield player for at least 8 games.

Different point, but isnt it puzzling that the Wolves players were found to have insulted Shelvey for a physical illness he suffers from for 90 minutes, but no charge is given to any of those people. He then says something to a Moroccan lad that by his own admission hardly speaks English, and he gets charged with being racist

Blimey, I am surprised about the two red cards getting rescinded although I thought they were a bit harsh at the time.

I guess they may have decided the ref isn't up to Championship standard and have binned him back to non league. That way the FL are free to rescind and ultimately deem the ref is useless, which he was.

On the other hand they may have decided Lansbury was a complete tw@t and initiated both cards, which he did.

Brighton 1-0 courtesy of a Murray penalty.

Another penalty another goal. ...2-0.

4 - nil..... otherwise known as 'what happens when a referee doesn't take it upon himself to try and *modded* your team up in every way he possibly can, for reasons known only to himself'
