This will be the worse squad that Jose has inherited.

When he took over at Chealski the first time they had just finished 2nd. Inter champions 2 previous seasons, Real 2nd in La Liga, Chealsea 3rd in La Liga. And now he takes on arguably his biggest challenge of a team that finished 5th in the premier league whilst trying to improve the squad. Will be very interesting to see what he can do from this situation.

Giggs won't be assistant manager this time which to me suggests he will try his hand at management elsewhere.

Mourinho wants Ibrahimovic as one of his first signings according to the papers.

Not sure what he can bring to the club now seeing as he is 34 years old. He would only be a short term solution.

I wish they would just bloody conclude these extraordinarily protracted negotiations. All this talk about the trials and tribulations of Man U has become so dull post Ferguson.

I think a sponsorship issue is holding things up. Utd have a deal with Chevrolet cars whereas JM has a deal with Jaguar.

Seems that Chealski own the image rights to Joses.

Brilliant, just shows how much football as changed.

Rafa signs a new 3 year deal with Newcastle

I'm yet to be convinced that he will be in charge at the start of next season. Once the Euro's are over the managerial merry go round will begin, and he might well be tempted to take the Spain job, or a job at a club with European football.

This contract might just mean that Ashley gets a few Mill, later in the summer, to buy him out of his contract, rather than letting him walk away from the club for nothing, whilst Rafa gets to keep a healthy salary in the meantime, keeping the wolves from his door until a better job comes along.

I hope I'm wrong, and he stays, but I just don't believe it

Whole point surely? And rotate with Rashford to see how he fares in his second season.

If Newcastle keep him, its a brilliant foundation to build on

A man with 112 goals in his last 4 seasons is worth a punt...... Never really been based on pace, Id take him in a sniff

I wonder what Zlatans wages would be like. He would expect parity with Rooney.

34 years old, probably 2 years at most there. No transfer fee but will want a very big signing on fee. One of the 5 most recognisable names in football.

Would be great to see how he performs in the Premier league. Will also spice up the Manchester derby even more.

Personally i would think United going after Robert Lewandowski would be more of a statement of intent.

Zlatan has knocked goals in non stop in Ligue 1, but the best comparison is probably his goal ratios in the champions league where the competition is slightly stiffer. Last year he scored a goal every 176 mins, or roughly every 2nd game. He did score in some important games though. Still pretty dam good, but at 34 and having to play in a league with slightly more competition I'm not sure if his worth on the playing side will be as much as his wages and fees would dictate.

So for me is this deal did go through, the accountants would be absolutely stoked, but from the playing side I'm not convinced. United have gone with old strikers before and that has worked out for them, perhaps this will as well.

I'd love to see a player of that calibre in our league, if only for a season or two. He's one player who can score lots and score great goals, as well as play the slightly deeper role.

I have never been a superfan of Ibra's abilities, but the records speak for themselves......

There is a basic rule of football...... where Ibra is, trophies follow.

He has won something like 14 league titles and is 34.....

Worse players to get on a free. Rumours are he wants 220k a week.
