Interestingly, this whole thing was blown open by the US investigation into one of their own, Chuck Blazer:

Not sure I agree with that. I think the fact the USA lost out on a WC bid to countries based on corruption has lead to the action we are seeing. Either way, its brilliant that the Americans have not allowed this corruption to stand, and I celebrate this fact.

Quite how this guys openly took money for years though is simply crazy... if he was known as "Mr 10%" then why is it 20 years later that he and others are being charged.

Why did Sepp Blatter openly award lucrative merchandising rights to his nephews company in 2010 WC? A company he apparently owns 30% stock in!!

The bottom line us, UEFA and US need to led a walk out on FIFA and pressure other big footballing countries to do the same. USA is a huge potential market for football, arguably the biggest potential market in the world. They could hold a lot of sway with other countries.

I've always felt a breakaway is the only way to stop the goings on in football with FIFA but it's a case of who has the balls to do it and there has to be a fair few FA's doing it at the same time.

This might be the catalyst.

Yeah I noticed Coca-Cola and Visa are keeping a close eye on things.

Seems that UEFA are taking an anti Blatter stance on this, saying they want a delay of the elections, asking Blatter to leave, and Platini now openly stating that he wants people to vote against him. This is a power struggle that could end UEFA and FIFA working together. Blatter is known to swiftly crush opposition.

Having said that, the Asian and African confederates seem to be the ones that always go for Blatter

Just as I type, Platini infers that someone needs to talk to Blatter about "reality" of his position....

Well I thought that tbh. Yesterday we were told that a lot of these people have been taking bungs to forward marketing of sponsors....
