Saints sign Ryan Bertrand on loan ( apparently with option to buy ), not sure what to make of it, not disappointed though.

Is that shock at the price being too high, or too low?

It's only £3m more than what Liverpool paid us for Lallana. And yet, unlike Lallana, Lukaku has the potential to become world class in the future.

It was more in shock that Everton were willing to pay that price. After all, they have almost doubled their previous record transfer fee paid (Fellaini for £15m from Standard Liege).

But just think how much TV deals have increased since then?

It's fairly well known that the sides who relegated last season received more TV money, under the new deal which kicked in last season, than Man Utd did for winning the league the previous season.

Plus, they spent less than half of the Fellaini transfer fee last summer on purchasing McCarthy, so no doubt had some of that excess left over to spend.

They also got Gareth Barry on a free ( I think ), done some good business.

I believe, but can't say for sure, we received £2.5m for Barry. Nevertheless, still a very good deal for Everton.

Looks like we'll be signing Lampard on loan. Shrewd move.

Juventus have loaned Isla to QPR. Good signing.

He said in an interview that one day he may come back even though he's happy at Madrid. He'll be in his 30s then so i wouldn't even want him anyway.

It was also a rumour at the start of last season. I can't see him being part of LVG's plans. The transfer fee and salary would also probably put them Utd off.

Ballond'or winner isn't moving to a team that came 7th, no matter how much he enjoyed his time there.

Bale coming back to Saints is more likely than that.

It's taken a while, but the newspapers are finally linking us to half of Utd's "lesser" players. I've spent the whole summer thinking it's pretty obvious that we look in that direction to spend some of our money.

Hernandez, Young, Zaha and Kagawa.

Not yet seen anything in the way of Welbeck, Nani and Cleverley, but I wouldn't be surprised if I did over the coming days.
