After 10 games thats pretty good as those are the teams expected to fight it out for 4th. The Saints still have to play a few big teams but a nice place to be at present.

Maybe at the end of this season, Liverpool might do well to buy the Saints scouting team as opposed to their playing team?

It's getting to the stage now where people need to stop talking about our 'kind' set of fixtures (this isn't aimed at you by the way).

Ten games is half the league. Half! And we still haven't played Leicester, Villa, Palace and Burnley yet!!

Very few teams will go away to West Ham, Swansea and Hull this season and come away with nine points and just one goal conceded.

All the saints can do is keep getting results. Im sure some of the bigger teams are not looking forward to playing the Saints at present.

I also reckon Saints supporters will have wished they played Man United earlier in the season. By the time they get around to playing them they might well be pretty hard to get points off.

I'm getting fed up of this "how long will it last" talk, as if we are on some flukey run, 10 wins in 11 games is incredible by anyones standards.

We are only 9 league games away from the Transfer window opening, and if we can remain in the top 4 until then, quality could arrive.

History tells us that Southampton will fall out of the top four at some point during the season. Be nice if they don't, but I'll eat Aidan's hat if they stay there. Still, top six will be a superb unexpected result.

I think Southampton have a great chance of getting a Europa League place but Champions League is probably a bit optimistic. Saying that, there's only two standout teams so they might be able to finish fourth.

If they play the way they did against Chelsea then it's possible but I think City will be too good for them today.

You would think the saints will need to take points of United for a chance at a top 4 finish

The only game(s) I look at and think, we have no chance is Chelsea, and thats partly due to us not having Ryan Bertrand available for those games.

We already went to Arsenal and outplayed them in the cup.

At the moment Bournemouth are mirroring everything Southampton are doing, winning runs, second in the league, 8-0 wins, quarter finals of the league cup. Be interesting to see who can keep it going the longest. Both had wins by the odd goal yesterday, we looked a bit sluggish so maybe the brakes are coming on to our run, we shall see.

You have a better chance at finishing 2nd than we do.

My brother put that question to me this morning, I couldn't decide, not alot in it, both long odds, but so were Burnley last season. I seem to remember Southampton finishing second in the old first division, maybe late seventies early eighties so you have the history.

Yeah, and we have 2 points more this season than we did then too.

But the Championship is much more of an anyone can beat anyone division, would anyone be shocked if Fulham went up ? Burnely were 2nd favs to go down last year and came 2nd...whereas when was the last time an outsider broke the top teams in the Prem ??

You could say that Liverpool broke the top four domination last season and finished second.
