wonder if that goal was a direct result of schneiderlin going off , toure got acres of space at the edge of the box with no-one closing him down

Very good performance by Man C today probably down to those two late goals midweek.

they have looked good today , scoreline maybe flatters them a little with the two late break away goals but have been the better team

Haven't not seen much of Soton this season but having watched them today and against Villa last Monday I'm surprised they're in this lofty position.

6 points ahead of Arsenal with them to play next. 4 points ahead of United with them to play after Arsenal. Could be caught up by the end of next weekend!

I think they will do better against Arsenal and United though, just not the start they wanted before this horror set of fixtures.

Against Villa we were poor. Dominated possession, but just hardly created a thing. Our second worst performance of the season, after Spurs away.

And then today, Man City were just too good. Yes Tadic had a shocker, and we lost Morgan to injury (with Cork already missing through illness), but City were still too good. And given the money they have spent, and the players they have, that is nothing to be ashamed about.

Neither game is a true reflection of our season so far (which should be pretty obvious, given that we wouldn't be in third if they were), but at the same time we were never going to remain in the top two all season.

If we can get a point against Utd a week tomorrow, then even if we lose to Arsenal on Wednesday, we will still come out of this very tough week inside the top four. But with Pelle going off the boil in recent games, we badly need Rodriguez back from injury and the January transfer to arrive. Our squad is paper thin, and the fixture congestion of the next two months will really highlight that. Starting with no Davis the other night, no Cork today, and no Morgan next.

The way Bournemouth and Soton are mirroring each others seasons we seem destined to finish in the same position in our respective divisions, probably reach the same rounds of both cups as well.

I can only think he thought Aguero was milking the dive and therefore the simulation in the situation overtook the tackle in his mind. We criticise because we get the slow mo replay, whereas he only gets one look. There must be countless times when my view of a situation in real time has been changed after the replay, so how in hell is a referee ever going to get it right all the time. I'm not a great advocate of tv assistance in football but I wouildn't be against getting the fourth official a monitor so he can assist in these decisions without slowing down the flow of the game too much.

To be fair, I haven't seen the ref's position. He may have had his view blocked? I'm not in favour of having a fourth official assisting with these decisions. Before you know it, throw in's will be reviewed, and so on. Leave it to the man in the middle.

I think there was once a suggestion about each manager having one review per half where they can try and overturn the referee's original decision.

Has to rank right up there with one of the worst signings of all time. The thing is everyone knew it would be a disaster except Rodgers. Last season that man could do no wrong, this season he can barely do any right after laying out a load of money on new signings in the off season. I guess he can still turn it around by somehow quallfying for the knockout rounds of the Champions League, and they've got Bournemouth away in the league cup quarter finals!
