So much for the long term legacy... they passed on Mourniho to get someone in for the long term, then appoint a guy who is near pension age :lmao

But so long as we continue to show ambition and give him a transfer budget to work with, I can't see Poch leaving for Spurs. The club is simply too unstable, and yet again will have to fight for a CL place with the noose of Thursday Europa League football tied round their neck. And after last summer, there's no certainty that Levy will allow too many players to be signed this summer.

Keep Poch. Sell Lallana, Shaw and Osvaldo. Give Poch a £70m transfer budget. Sounds alright to me.

i think both Lallana and Shaw will leave...especially if Pochettino goes to spurs..

I hope the former does move on because we stand to get 25% of his transfer fee.

I'm not convinced they did pass on Mourinho tbh, I doubt he would want to work there with Fergie looking down on him every day.

Giggs is officially his assistant, I wonder if thats something van Gaal is actually happy with, or just willing to accept as part of his large salary.

He will probably come in as a first team coach and probably an un-official Assistant

Id like to see that one pass through the courts. To say the value of taking a 12 year old pre teen from another centre of excellence is £5 million pounds is quite extraordinary. I doubt that, when the FA tribunal set that amount, they had any idea that Lallana would become a full international, and if he did, who is to say that is anything to do with the Cherries input?

Its ridiculous in all fairness.... Lallana would probably be a league two player had he remained there, I cant see why a young child with hardly any footballing education should have to be paid for at such a price, especially when he wasn't even under a youth contract at the Cherries, by all accounts.

So he goes to the best youth academy in the country, becomes a brilliant player, but that costs that team a huge sum of money.... and we are told what we need is more Reserve Leagues to get the best out of our youth?

Thats a very good point Pob, but I dont think much would come of it, we knew the terms when we took him, although I think 10% would be MUCH fairer.

back to Van Gaal, he has NO Premier League experience, if a guy with (12?) years Prem experience ( albeit at a smaller club ) can't get the best out of them, I find it hard to believe van Gaal will make them contenders from day 1.

Giggs has now officially hung up his boots. As well as being LVG's assistant he wants to spend more time with other people's wives.

It was all a mis-understanding, him and John Terry both happened to put their keys in the wrong bowl.

Any sell on clause is ridiculous. At that age it is the club he goes to that has the impact on who he becomes, you are essentially rewarding Bournemouth for Southampton's excellent youth setup. Surely you have to say he is worth whatever he is at the time, and that is close to nothing???

I know the argument is you cant have poaching players, but I rather be having a 12 year old English lad getting time with the coach who unleashed Bale onto the world instead of the guy who unleashes nobody.

I do agree, BUT I am not sure how good Lallana was at 12, he must of had some degree of potential for Saints to invest in him, just where the compensation should lay is for someone smarter than me to decide.

I hope there is still a place for Scholes, Butt & Phil Neville on the coaching side. It wont be quite the same as the Anfield Boot Room but the continuity will be a big help to the club.

Giggs has been carried for a couple of years now, though does show occasional quality when played. A great great career though :salute
