Foot was on top of his foot. Just replayed it about 10 times on Swedish telly. The view over here is a certain pen and would have been given with Var.

and England sent out a message tonight...........

nothing's changed

we still won't win a tournament in the Footman's lifetime

England will get absolutely mullered by either France or Portugal in the first knockout round

Enjoy what's left of the comp, because England will be out in 2 matches time

I noticed that Scotland had a player in their side who couldn't get a game for Newcastle several years ago once they'd clawed their way back into the Prem, so perhaps it was too much to ask for England to give a third rate side a hammering

I wonder how many goals Belgium or France would have put past Scotland with half their best players sitting on the bench

several, I'd imagine

Well that was predictably crap.

Still only need a draw with Czech Republic to go through, and not impossible to go through on a loss, but hardly impressive.

How has this line up only scored once in 180 minutes?

It's the equivalent of picking 4 spinners in April in the CC and wonder why you can't take wickets. Who picks two defensive midfielders and expects to create? We can slag off England's attack, but they had zero support. He then brought off the last golden boot winner at the WC and current PL top scorer while searching a winner.

The guy is clueless. He relegated the only side he ever managed. I say with no joke, you could walk into a pub anywhere in England and find a person who has more tactical awareness than this total plank

The telly is full of jubilant Scottish fans who feel like they've won the world cup

I think we're supposed to feel happy for them.... plucky little Scots

Fancy giving them the chance to be elated for years to come.... putting one over on the bastardbastard Englishmen

The England team should feel thoroughly ashamed of themselves

I was working in London yesterday afternoon. As I reached the last stop on my tube line, coming home, a dozen football fans made their way on the tube to go the other way.

None of them were wearing masks.

The crowds on TV at Leicester Square was frightening. No social distancing.

The Euros might become a coronavirus superspreader event.

outdoors though, Mike

Up to now, crowds outside that look really bad haven't tended to lead to an outbreak.... although cases are already shooting up, so how they'll tell I couldn't say

the boffins seem pretty sanguine about transmission outdoors

Was a disappointing display from England ; and the Scots , as I rather suspected they would , played above themselves - and might even have won if Pickford hadn't been at his best. Suppose England might have stolen it if the (technically justified ) penalty had been given ; but they really didn't deserve to.

However : England now need a draw at worst to go through - possibly not even that ; and the Scots have to beat Croatia to have even a chance of progressing : so the rejoicing from north of the wall should perhaps be a little muted as yet.

Of course it is a worry for England that they've scored just once in two games. (To be fair they looked a lot sharper against Croatia). I cannot help but feel there was a conscious attempt to damp down the always present emotional aspect of a game against Scotland for this match ... because for all the measured build up there just didn't seem to be any real attacking flair : all the likely goal scorers seemed hesitant when they got the ball in what might be considered promising positions. Kane in particular just didn't look himself at all - in truth he was pretty flat against Croatia too (effects of a long season?) so that is perhaps an ongoing concern. Thought Mount had his moments and a good thing that Grealish got a run out ...will be interesting to see the selection for the Czech game.

Call me a cockeyed optimist but I think they have a lot better than this in them and hopefully we will see it in the next couple of matches.
If you are going to have a poor performance much better to get it out of the way now rather than when trying to tackle one of the Big Teams in a knock out...

Hungary held France to a 1-1 draw.

Germany outscored Portugal 4-2.

The Group of Death is alive and well.

It seems that all 4 teams in that group fancy giving themselves the honour of knocking England out in the last 16
