Football league 2014/15

The beautiful game!

In monetary terms the two don't compare. And relegation from the football league maybe not as bad as it once was, the conference is pretty much FL div 3 these days as it's status and coverage in the media has risen in recent times.

Yeah the good thing is there is now the chance to get back into the league. We are in the position where we are owned by an oil company who have been bitten by the recession so the amount of money ploughed into the club has diminished over the years.

Also the owners want out and that almost happened this season when we had a new buyer but they turned out to be...well shall we say not what they appeared to be. There is a worry that the club could fold if we go out of the league. However the fans this season have woken up and are looking at ways to help the club. A supporters trust is in the process of being set up.

We know all too well from our rivals Darlington how things can turn sour.

Relegation to the Conference is financially difficult for teams to operate like a Football League club.

No solidarity payments from the Premier League (worth £250k), only a one off parachute payment of £215k, youth team funding is halved to £90k per year for 2 years before disappearing altogether. Non league clubs who are fortunate enough to operate a youth team academy are more vulnerable to losing their best prospects and not receive financial compensation. Any clubs lucky enough to get on television merely receive a 4 figure appearance fee.

Add the decreases in matchday and sponsorship revenue, it gives former football league clubs little manouvere to adapt.

Wycombe scored a much needed winner in the 102nd minute, which keeps us 4 points ahead of Bury, though they do have a game in hand. Bury beating Shrewsbury was a pain, but on the flip side, we now only three points behind Shrewsbury.

In the championship, three of the top four won, with Watford playing Forest tonight. Pressure on. Derby look to have a play-off berth after they beat Blackpool, and Brentford and Wolves lost.

It would be nice to see Watford drop some points tonight with Norwich v Borough on Friday evening.

Yes good to see Wycombe get that late winner although I was watching the goal flashes come through on the BBC videprinter and for one second thought it was Reading equalising against us!

Marlon Harewood secures Hartlepool as vital point.

Yes, a good point for Hartlepool. It's as tight as it was last season, down near the bottom.

Hoping for a Norwich win, budget?

If Watford don't win tonight and we can somehow win on Saturday, then the result on Friday evening isn't overly important as irrespective of the Watford result on Saturday we would then be at least 3 points ahead of third place, and a win at home to Bolton the following week with our goal difference.........!!!

Like it's ever going to pan out like that! All I know is we seem to be playing worse and worse due to nerves and the like, but are still managing to scrape through games. It doesn't matter who the opposition are right now as all the games are going to be massively tough and stressful for the fans.

By all accounts Forest had a pretty good go last night but Watford were more clinical, both sides registering over 20 shots in the game, pretty good going.

Oh well now I'm hoping for a draw tomorrow night, but to be honest I can't see past a Norwich win with Boroughs recent away performances against the top sides.

On paper, you should win all three of your remaining games.

It would be nice if the last 3 games were to be played on paper because winning them in reality will be very difficult. Starting on Saturday against Sheff Wed who I reckon will be a tough nut to crack, and coupled with our hesitancy and nerves in recent games is going to make it blooming stressful.

All this to end up in the Premier League where we will be favourites to go down and we will have to get used to a season of defeats against one of victories. Still it is the promised land!

It's tradition for us to travel to the last away game of the season in fancy dress.

Two years ag o we were Smurfs, last year thunderbird puppets.

This year someone has had the bright idea for us all to go as.....Bob Marley.

The Guardian are on to it already. This was a stupid idea :d'oh:

Middlesbrough man of the match is the ref...at least three handball penalties in the area not given, and blowing with norwich in possession every time a Middlesbrough player faked injury.....

Middlesbrough wasted probably twenty minutes of the second half faking injury

Was hoping for a draw, but I'll take that result ahead of Norwich win. Bit of a turn up as couldn't see past a Norwich win on recent form.
