Last night, ITV went for a solo commentator during the Japan game, he was brilliant ( not sure whom he was), he knew a vast amount about each player, yet only really spoke when nescessary, probably the best commentator I've ever heard.

In contrast, BBC have Lawrenson who knows nothing about anyone not in the Prem and Phil Neville who rambles on in the dullest tone imaginable.

Ha ha, I have heard a comparison of Neville commentary being like someone talking while making a drug deal.

I dont really mind people without the knowledge, but Lawrenson talks like he hates football and hates having to be there. No passion whatsoever.

The truth is they have triple marked him all game, and now the legs are getting tired he finally got some space to run at the defence, and quality piece of finishing there.

Hard on Bosnia. It took Argentina an hour to start playing, Now that they have, it could be a battering. Pity that Bosnia couldn't take advantage of their first half dominance

Football commentators have two gears... the player was poor, or he was amazing.

Messi has been decent. Crossed the first goal, put two brilliant crosses in that begged to be finished, and scored a pretty neat goal, a goal he made himself with a great initial pass and run into space.....

Its like people expect a hattrick every time he plays, or he isnt good enough. He had a poor season this year apparently, but scored more goals than Suarez, and was injured for a long spell......
