Didn't half your side sign for you without CL football? Yaya, Aguero and Silva?

You could argue that they weren't really superstars back then though whereas Di Maria and Vidal are up there with the best in the world at the moment.

Shane Long is off to Southampton for £12m. Bizarre. Could do a lot better than him for that price.

Without wanting to seem pedantic I do believe Aguero signed for us when we were competing in all major competitions. Admittedly Yaya was a major coup, but Silva wasn't established as a world star when he joined us.

According to reports they are close to signing Florin Gardos for £5m, too.

Anyone seen him play?

Shane Long is a good player.

I doubt (or at least, am hoping) it wont be as much as the £12m rumoured.

We have money to burn still.

This was always going to happen, EVERYONE knows how much money we have and will inflate their fees accordingly.

As for Long himself, we will create chances for him, and we NEED a workhorse to play alongside Pelle, not many guys in the league do as much running than him.

I like Long as a player, but don't see him scoring too many in the EPL.

Never passed double figures in an EPL season. Only reached double figures once in his career and that was in the Championship.

Sounds about right. I do like Long. He's neat, has good movement, in fact, is a good player, but not a good goalscorer.

Is 12 million for a Premiership striker that much now? When you think last season Crystal Palace paid 8.5 odd for Dwight Gayle, Norwich signed Van Wolfswinkel for 8.5 and got one goal out of him, Fulham just bought McCormack for 11 mill, Swansea paid 14 odd for Bony I think,Leicester paid 7 million for Ulloa, Cardiff paid 8 odd for Cornelius who turned out to be so bad they sold him by January.... think even going back, Jordan Rhodes was 8 or 9 million for a Championship club, and Forest just paid 5-6 million for Assombalonga from League One... going back even further, guys like Kenwyne Jones went for 8-9 million.

As an average price, you have to expect to pay a million pounds for every goal per season they score. A decent 10 goal striker will be a double figure spend.

Think it includes wages as well as the transfer fee but still a huge amount of money.

Crazy money, but after the week end i expect United to start splashing the cash, and not be bothered how and where they spend it.
