UEFA Champions League Continued 2015/16

The beautiful game!

Arsenal did alright, but the defending in the last third of the game was terrible. Its typical Arsenal really, they lose their discipline at times in games, and its not the first time in an important game I have seen them get carried away. They had 5 minutes before Barca scored where they looked to be gaining some momentum and starting to pressure Barca's control of the ball.

Yet Barca win the ball back and when it gets switched at the half way line from the right wing to the centre, you have only the right back covering a man, the left back is covering his slot, and a gap of 40 yards in the middle where the Barca man has already left Mertesacker with 1 or 2 yards to get back level. Its 2 on 3/3 on 3 situation with a whole half of the pitch of space, and against the passing quality of Barcelona, you are committing suicide by defending like that. Why the hell had both CB's got caught in Barcelona's half, one being beaten by a man running straight past him and reacting to the play quicker.

Both goals were extremely poor defending. Why Flamini makes a challenge on Messi is beyond me, he is already beaten, he had no chance.

Brings you back to those two legs against Chelsea in the past. Chelsea did brilliantly (they lost that game at Stamford Bridge in 2008 or 2009? but the referee had a lot to do with that) by keeping their discipline and frustrating the hell out of Barcelona. Arsenal were able to do that for a while, but couldnt maintain it. As soon as your level of effort drops and a few gaps appear, they are going to kill you.

The key to beating Barcelona is for your patience to last longer then theirs

So Arsenal are all but out, and Chelsea need a win. Can City come through against Kiev and keep the English flag flying?

I watched some of the second half of the Juve - Bayern game and was impressed with Juventus. I reckon they may sneak a win in Munich.

Apparently in the first half Bayern maintained 85% possession

They're probably as much through as Barcelona are.

Indeed. Just gotta hope Chelsea come through, to give us a reasonable two teams in the quarters.

They have a good chance especially with the way their form has picked up recently.

Dzeko misses the easiest of chances to put Roma 1-0 at Real.... he was barely 6 yards out and put it a good 2 or 3 yards wide

Sounds like a howler. Madrid will score a couple so Roma are going to need a few.

Salah misses in a similar situation.... Roma should be 2-0, but to be fair it would have been harsh seeing as though Danilo was hacked down in the build up.

James looks well out of his depth so far. Everytime he gets the ball he loses it.

Ronaldo looking dangerous. I think you are right Finch, Roma are going to struggle to keep them out.
