Recently sold one of their top players, and did get the easiest draw (higher to mid table Portuguese team).... still a tough away day in Ukraine to avoid, and a team with a few decent stars.

They did get absolutely murdered in the Champions League this time last year.... was it something like 8-0 vs Bayern? They looked like amateurs that night

I believe they are the team that has won the competition most times. I can certainly guess they have won it 3 times in the last decade?

On checking, they have won it 4 times in 10 years and currently have a great chance to win 3 times in a row.!!!

This Liverpool team selection tells me that the manager would like a goalless draw in the first leg.

Villarreal score in injury time. Liverpool pay the penalty for not trying to win.

And he's paid the price right at the end.

Massive goal for Villarreal.

Commentary team was praising Milner to the skies during the game.

The midfield general they were calling him. You're having a fecking giraffe.

A midfield of Milner, Allen and Lallana is about as potent as Top Deck.

Thought they had done ok for an away leg.

Allen put a good ball over the top for Lallana to run onto, and was incorrectly called offside. Actually should have ended up being a penalty for Lallana.

14 shots, 3 on target, more possession. Until the last bit of play, Liverpool looked the most likely to score. Considering they were the away team, i thought they were the better team on the night.
