Football League 15/16

The beautiful game!

The managerial merry go round starting to wheel it's cogs in the Championship, with Rotherham sacking Neil Redfearn and Derby sacking Paul Clement.

Both sackings smack of desperation. Neil Redfearn inherited a bloated squad and needed next season to assemble a team of his own. Derby sacking Clement is even more bizzare, who has done fairly well overall and are only 5/6pts off the top two despite being 7 games unbeaten.

Am a bit shocked at the Clement sacking. Their form has been poor, but a couple of wins, and automatic promotion is back on.

Its a bit bizarre, but he was given a war chest budget this year on the grounds that winning the league was non-negotiable, and with the squad he has he should be top.

We've sacked Ronnie Moore. No surprise really.

He did a great job at the back end of last season keeping us up but it just wasn't working out this season. Hopefully we get the right man to replace him.

A consortium led by Dean Holdsworth are in the verge of taking over Bolton.

Bradford twice coming back from behind to earn a point against Rochdale.

7pts in 3 games is a nice return. Strikers Wes Thomas and Steven Davies are getting stronger as they are playing more first team football, can only bode well once the season heads towards the business end. Squad wise I feel Bradford are stronger than this time last year with depth and quality in all positions (minus an experienced back up goalkeeper)

We lost again but it looks like we are putting up a bit more fight under the new boss.

I'm hearing there were a lot of things that Ronnie Moore didn't do that Higgy is now putting in place. If we survuve the drop we may be starting to head in the right direction next season.

Bradford securing a well 1-0 victory at Blackpool to go up to 7th in League One, one point behind the playoffs and 4 matches unbeaten. Not all good news with starlet centre back Reece Burke (on loan from West Ham) and striker Steven Davies going off injured mid-game.

A massive fortnight awaits with back to back midweek/weekend matches against Colchester, Bury, Burton and Doncaster to determine Bradford's playoff aspirations.

Brighton's Jekyll and Hyde season continues, with a storming win against Leeds last night. After a realy dodgy mid season slump, its incredible we are now 2 points away from top spot (although played 1 or 2 more games than the teams in front). Daylight is starting to open between the 1-4 positions and the rest.

I think the table doesnt lie, and I believe the three teams above Brighton are better teams, but the playoffs could be interesting for us this year. One thing Houghton brings is the ability to get a 0-0 away from home when you need it.

I switched it on briefly, saw it was 4-0 after 40 minutes or so. Watched the Brighton players pass the ball around in their own half for about 5 minutes with Leeds barely interested. You could tell that the second half was going to be 45 minutes of going through the motions so I switched over.

Haven't really followed the Championship that closely this season (may do next) but I did notice Brighton had been on a bit of an up and down run since the New Year. Still well in contention for an automatic promotion spot.
