Qatar T10 League

Latest kid on the block is an odd one and appears to just exist for bookmakers.

Zero geographic affiliation and no big names despite rumours of such. Alma, raging at the dying of the light, features as do Luke Wright and, perhaps more surprisingly, Tom Abell. It also has its share of bad boys featuring no less than 5 players who are currently serving bans from playing cricket by their home boards.

Interestingly the tournament was only given the green light twenty days ago so it is bound to be smoothly run.

Two games today as Desert Riders beat Flying Oryx by 7 wickets. Mohammed Hafeez was the man of the moment scoring 45 off 23 balls.

In the second game the Swift Gallopers (you literally couldn't make that up) beat the Falcon Hunters by 6 runs. An all round strong bowling line up for the Gallopers was led by 2 wickets in one over from Gayan Wimalashantha .

The Desert Riders are now top with two wins in two.

Sometimes these T10 Leagues seem like a hit and hope style tournament but there is a clear divide forming in this one. After 11 games Swift Gallopers, Desert Riders and Falcon Hunters seem to cut the mustard whilst Heat Stormers and Pearl Gladiators do not cut the mustard.

In the first game of the day Swift Gallopers put on 115-6. SG now have the top three highest totals in the tournament. Then Ali Imran showed that their bowling unit was equally as tasty with 3 wickets in 1.4 overs - skittering Pearl Gladiators out for 67.

The other game was equally as one side. After Falcon Hunters inserted Flying Oryx they managed to get them all out for 45 - the lowest total of the competition. Amad Butt got a threefer. Unsurprisingly Falcon Hunters polished the victory off with ease.

Pearl Gladiators and Heat Stormers played off against each other in what proved to be a dead rubber today as the two teams are now eliminated. PG got to 93 despite some very strong bowling from Batin Shah. HS could only get 78.

Tomorrow the top 4 will play each other to see who progresses into Monday's final.

Seeming as no one else is covering this tournament, I officially name Ali Imran as Find of the Tournament.

The Pakistan bowler got another two wickets - however his Swift Gallopers side lost in the final to the Falcon Hunters. SG set a very low total of 85 but FH only just squeaked it with a ball left.

Imran got the most wickets in the tournament at an economy of 6.26 - the fourth lowest.
