having thought about it a bit and seeing the rest of what happened today stokes is remarkably lucky to have got that much money

he really is a bit of an emperor's new clothes cricketer imo, capable of moments of brilliance but nowhere near consistent enough to be up there with the "elite" in the game

woakes did really well for himself, having some ability with the bat looks to have helped him alot as teams passed on alot of good bowlers that wouldn't add anything with the bat, or didn't pay much for them

30 lakh for Sammy is crazy.

I'm surprised that no one bid for Marlon Samuels, Evin Lewis and Jason Holder. I guess Holder's commitment to play Tests against Pakistan this April/May militated against him, and Samuels has too much disciplinary baggage. Lewis needs to advertise his case more in the CPL this summer....

Darren Bravo - Kolkata (he then shows the middle finger to Dave Cameron! )

because this is an interim auction and most of the franchises had existing squads there were only a total of 77 places available across all the franchises in the auction before all the rosters were full

and that would have been further limited by how many overseas spots they had left

I am not sutprised. I had guessed he would fetch 8 to 11 crore deal few weeks back which i had mentioned ob this or other thread. So i dont think he is lucky.

Woakes for KKR is good deal as Morne is injured.

If Sussexpob was auctioner Ben would have got Rs. 14 and 50 paise instead of 14.5 crores.

when you take a look at his figures he isn't any better than alot of other all-rounders who went for nowhere near as much, thats why i think he is incredibly lucky

i think he has enormous talent but we have only really seen glimpses of it so far and for me he is one of the most over-rated cricketers around atm

Brand value is important from marketing perspective.
Yuvi was not worth 14 crores on his cricketing skills as he was teribly out of form. But teams need poster boys. Ben Stokes has got benefit of positive media image but i think he did deserve a lot of those crores on his value in this format. Delhi has Brathwaite and Bem as well. Did they release Chris Morris. Neesham is suppose was with Delhi . All rounders team.

I think Ben will justify his price with perfiormance. Team like Delhi needs some match winners. He played very well in India recently.

forget who he is and look at his stats

do you think someone who averages under 15 with a high score of just 38 and a s/r of 136 with the bat, and has taken just 10 wickets in 21 T20Is at an average of 48 and an economy rate above 9 deserves what he just got ?

Similar to Russell's T20I record and he was the IPL MVP.

Still a ridiculous price though.

i'm not saying he cant be effective, he has the talent to do it, i'm saying for that sort of money i want someone who is a proven performer on a consistent basis and for me Stokes isn't

Those figures are bad for 14.5 crores.

Were the figures bad for ODI and T20 in recent tour of India.

Its also bit like stock market. Franchisees paying for future returns.

in the 3 t20s he was slightly better but only slightly

he got a couple of 50s in the ODIs but was poor with the ball

i get the paying for future returns Adi but thats a helluva investment to make based on potential
