Durham snatching victory from the jaws of defeat against Derbyshire. How many group stage wins are usually enough to qualify for the QF's?

Terrific last 6 overs from Butler to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

Knew Lancs would pull it off, Yorkshire's death bowling is attrocious these days.

Gale's choice of bowling has a lot to answer for. Bowl a 17 year old at the penultimate over against two international finishers, superb captaincy is that. And why did Maxwell not bowl out? Lancs really struggled against him. Even Root should have got an over somewhere in 6-16 to really apply the pressure.

Last season - being the only previous season where the group stage has been 14 matches per team - 4th place in the North group finished with 16 pts and 5th finished with 15 pts, whilst 4th place in the South group finished with 15 pts and 5th finished with 13 pts.

So 8 wins out of 14, or 7 wins out of 12 or 13 with a rain-off or two, would appear to be a decent rough guide.

Doesn't look like it's been posted on here yet, but Moeen bowled an over (the 16th over) for Worcs yesterday with no keeper. Cox took off his pads and gloves and fielded as a fly slip instead. Umpires took a while to agree between them that the tactic was allowed, but eventually agreed that it was.

Sounds like the tactic remained in place a few overs later, when Ajmal bowled an over.

It seems it is legal but to be honest, i don't really see the point of it. Got more disadvantages than benefits i think.

Maybe so the movement of the keepers knee doesn't make the umpires mistakenly call for chucking.

I see David Willey is opening the bowling wearing long white arm protectors on each arm. Surely in white ball cricket the colour white should not be allowed.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

Good result tonight, but fielding needs to sharpen up. Azarullah looks shot in this form atm but his CC form has been OK.
