There has been speculation about this for a little while now. According to wikipedia, the fountain of all knowledge, Flintoff is already signed sealed and delivered to the Brisbane Heat for the season ahead. I reckon he's a bit of a risk, tbh. As well stocked with guns Brisbane may well be, they will need the Freddie of old to come to the party if they are to add to their title of a couple of years ago.

The Brisbane Heat have just announced the signing of Samuel Badree as one of their imports. If Flintoff comes on board now, I guess it will be at the expense of Daniel Vettori.

Doug the Rug will be playing for the Sydney Sixers this summer, having signed a two year contract. The Hurricanes will sorely miss him. I saw the Canes twice last year and Bollinger was their talisman. The Sixers will be Bollinger's third BBL franchise, having played for the Sydney Thunder in the first season.

The Hurricanes bowling attack for 2014/15 with be spearheaded by Ben Hilfenhaus and Darren Sammy, with Sam Rainbird, Tim Van der Gugten and Xavier Doherty rounding things out. A decent attack, but weakened without Bollinger. Ben Laughlin has also departed, and will be playing for the Adelaide Strikers. At this stage, I reckon Slowbart will finish dead last.

The Sixers bowling attack looks a bit more menacing with; Bollinger, Brett Lee, Josh Hazlewood, Trent Copeland, Moises Henriques, Steve O'Keefe and Nathan Lyon.

So this is just a couple of weeks away. The teams this year seem to be a lot more closer in terms of strengths and weaknesses. Just for fun, I'm going to ran each team in terms of batting and bowling.

Batting;

1 Melbourne Stars
2 Brisbane Heat
3 Melbourne Renegades
4 Sydney Sixers
5 Perth Scorchers
6 Sydney Thunder
7 Hobart Hurricanes
8 Adelaide Strikers

Bowling;

1 Sydney Sixers
2 Brisbane Heat
3 Melbourne Renegades
4 Adelaide Strikers
5 Hobart Hurricanes
6 Perth Scorchers
7 Melbourne Stars
8 Sydney Thunder

I guess Brisbane and the Sydney Sixers are the two standout teams, but really anything can happen in this format.
