I took a perverse pleasure from watching the crapinfo ball by ball summary.

He might have managed to defend 22...sadly though Sussex were given 6 penalty runs because Surrey didn't bowl their overs in time

When did that get applied?

Nice to see they've kept that rule. It seems so long since anyone was awarded penalty runs that I had thought it was one of the casualties of the IPL and T20I's.

I've got to say, if England don't take too much of their side away, Yorkshire look an excellent shout for the title this year. Decent young English talent, a couple of top quality overseas players, and recent experience of Finals Day. I'd argue that there's only one other side on that list who can tick those three boxes too. Wonder who they might be... ;)

Glamorgan? ;)

I see from the BBC website that Middlesex are playing 2 games tomorrow, against Essex and Sussex respectively.

Does that seem fair? I've looked through the fixture list and this is the only time this happens. Lanky's play in the evening tomorrow so I presume this is for Sky to show 3 matches? If so, surely it would have been much fairer to stay at Lords and let Sussex play Essex..... make a day of it for the fans (kind of a mini finals day) and even things out for the teams, because I reckon that playing back to back matches may give the Middle players an unfair advantage over the Sussex players, who will be starting their match 'cold'.
It could work the other way too, of course, if the Middle have a mare in the first match, or pick up an injury to a key player, but one way or another, it will influence the outcome of the second match in a way that it wouldn't if the matches were played on separate days

Having said that..... I am rather pro the idea of having 3 matches at one ground in one day, actually. Better value for the punters, more chances for the counties to sell more food and drink, easier for the telly, better for the players by reducing the number of journeys required, quicker turnaround of matches............... everybody wins!

Disappointed to be honest considering Yorkshire fielded arguably their strongest line up, which consisted of 8 current and former internationals. How many counties can boast that?

Great recovery from Plunkett and Bresnan to get Yorkshire to a par total, but Gale's captaincy had a lot to answer for. Throwing Adil Rashid on for one over against left handed David Willey with a 60 yard leg side boundary when there was no need, thus conceding 19 runs. Also Gary Ballance at deep mid-wicket in the final over where he should've been at long on as Graeme White faced his 1st ball. Instead of being caught on the ropes and Northants needing 9 off 3, White just managed to get six with Northants needing 3 off 3.

Publicity stunt, as was Flintoff.

Next - Yorkshire will dig up Fred Trueman to bowl one over in the tournament and say "Ee lad, I don't know what's going off out there".

Crowd seems to have thinned out for the second game at Lords.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

Sussex's batting isn't the same without Nash and Prior (and no Styris this year). If Wright and RHB fail, there's not much else in a big hitting sense.

Unless they prepare slow, low surfaces at Hove, I can see Sussex struggling to get out of the South group if they have to put out this batting line-up too many times. Zaidi at number 5?
