They had damaged the Mohali wicket to oppose Pakistan playing as well the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi. There origin is in Mumbai and they have a strong political support over here. If they decide to protest the Aussie matches, i am really worried. They might dig the Wankhede, Brabourne or D Y Patil wicket. There is no threat to Aussie cricketers as they have never manhandled any cricketer, however the pitches will surely need to be relaid if a match is scheduled in Mumbai and they decide to protest.

Well Im sure the Indian authorities will keep an eye on things.

Im unsurprised that this type of reaction has occurred in light of the media handling of the recent murder of Mr Garg here in Melbourne.

Unfortunately until the perpetrator is caught - which will be very difficult as it occurred in a poorly lit park late at night, no witnesses, no CCTV of the area - we will not know the nationality of the killer. And until then there will continue to be the assumption that an "Anglo" has killed an Indian played by the Indian media.

@ Golly

The organization makes sure they do what they say. They have done it in the past and in Mumbai they can dig pitches at will because it has lot of supporters. However, Sharad Pawar, the BCCI head honcho is their political opponent and will take every step to protect the ground and show his political power to his rivals. I won't be surprised if he reacts to the media strongly over this issue. I don't think BCCI will reschedule Mumbai matches.

Good news in that Cricket Australia has stepped in to negotiate with the IPL to enable those players who would normally represent their state in the final of the Sheffield Shield can still do so without having their IPL contract torn up.

Well done to all involved

The security issue is solved. BCCI head honcho Sharad Pawar and Sashank Manohar met Mr Thackeray and had a two hour meeting. BCCI are now happy that the issues has been resolved and are expectign to get the party eladers formal approval. The media is criticising Pawar about why he bowed down to the party leader even though home minister and Mumbai minister had guaranteed the Australian IPL players full security. Whatever, Pawar makes 100% sure that the issue is solved at its root. Now Aussie players like Symmonds can easily walk into any bar without any security ;) . Well done Pawar and Sashank Manohar. :clap

Glad to see both these problems have gone away. Regarding the scheduling clashes, it seems to be like a few people indicated on here - a bit of sabre-rattling, a bit of a threat so everyone remembers how important the IPL is to their bank balance.

Do you think he's lost interest in that protest because of his other one vs SRK?

The stance was not strong in this case, and people would give no sympathy towards the opposition of Australian cricketers. Further, Sharad Pawar is the head honcho and has strong political influence. All this factors meant that the opposition would not have been successful. Also like the Rahul and SRK opposition failed, another failure would dent the image. The fact that Sharad Pawar met him boosted their image and there is no more need to show the influence. The image of party would ahve fallen otherwise. So it was all political and he has made the correct decision.

Is that decision really because of hamstring.Even the T20 and ODI can severe the hamstring or cause it.I guess it must be because he preferred IPL over FC cricket.

I think he has chosen the line of maximum income from minimum physical risk - in terms of number of days playing cricket. Another common sense decisioncreally, because he would not have ever made the Aus Test or ODI squads and who knows where the 20/20 team might be sourced from in the future

I wonder if he could have played the T20 tournaments in FC.I am not aware of the rules for participation, but is it possible that he could have made himself selectively available for T20 FC matches? Is that acceptable.

Yes T20 involves minimum physical risk in terms of number of days playing cricket. Jacob Oram and Shane bond the other injury prone players have done the same. This decision will definitely help Nannes a lot and get him huge money as he can now concentrate more on IPL and make himself available for all the matches. That he what the franchisee would look for and he can market himself well.
