What a fantastic innings by Dwayne Smith! He hit 110 not out off just 69 balls, including eight sixes and seven boundaries, to propel Barbados to 186-2 at Kensington Oval yesterday. But Smith didn't provide the only fireworks - Tino Best had predictable altercations with Shoaib Malik, who made 49, and Kieron Pollard, but conceded 27 runs from three overs. Despite an unbeaten 50 from 38 balls from Keddy Lesporis, St Lucia could only manage 157-4.

Graeme Swann on the sold-out crowd that turned up at Queens Park Oval for the match between Trinidad and Guyana: "We didn't get that at Lords last week."
8-)
Wow, what a match! A sold-out crowd, Badree set Guyana back with a fantastic 3-13, Ramdin was a great fightback with 84 from 45, Santokie with a three-fer, and the Bravo brothers both hitting 60s from 40-odd balls. But nothing could beat the finish...Lil Bravo needed six from the final ball, and getting it!

Despite a 66 from 55 balls from Marlon Samuels, Antigua could only manage 129-8, destroyed by Ravi Rampaul's 4-15, and they lost yet another match. But they made a match of it, Sheldon Cottrell and Carlos Brathwaite taking two wickets each, as Barbados scraped home by one wicket and with just two balls to spare. Jonathan Carter topscored for Barbados with 35.

Trinidad beat Jamaica by 13 runs in another exciting game. Evin Lewis, recalled to the side, topscored with 72 from just 43 balls in an imposing total of 183-5, as Rusty Theron and Andre Russell took two wickets each. Despite Chris Gayle's 60 from 46, and a late flurry of 40 not out from 17 by Russell, Kevin O'Brien's 4-22 made all the difference.

These days, when Test cricket is played at Kensington Oval, it's in front of empty stands in an atmosphere that's akin to a graveyard. But last night, the stands were full, Mac Fingal had come out of retirement to dance and play music, and there was lots of singing, dancing and music at Kensington Oval. It was like the good old days again!
:dance
And in yet another exciting match, Guyana pulled off an exciting seven-run win over Barbados. Batting first, Guyana made an imposing 173-5 thanks to Lendl Simmons' 64 from just 40 balls, and a run-a-ball 55 from Martin Guptill. But Dwayne Smith made a match of it, finishing on 104 not out off just 67 balls, with six sixes and eight boundaries, and he was aided by Shoaib Malik's 50 from 39 balls.

Yes Nikki, I noticed that too....
:)
But hey, I'm enjoying the CPL, so I'm happy to talk about it!

And what a thrashing St Lucia received at the hands of Trinidad, beaten by nine wickets with more than four overs to spare. First, Samuel Badree took 2-13 from his four overs to restrict St Lucia to 136-9, Darren Sammy topscoring with 46 not out. Then, Evin Lewis hit 77 from just 45 balls, and Kevin O'Brien made 55, in Trinidad's easy win.

I'm catching up with my recordings of the CPL....

Jamaica has been suffering from a drought for months, but stick three stumps in the ground, and there's a deluge!
On a match reduced by rain to 17 overs a side on Thursday, Jamaica had an easy seven-wicket win over Antigua with three overs to spare. Jerome Taylor (4-18) and Nikita Miller (3-17) reduced Antigua to 89-9, Carlos Brathwaite topscoring with 24. Then, Gayle hit 59 not out off just 36 balls, with six sixes, as Jamaica easily romped to victory.

Thursday's match between Barbados and St Lucia was much closer, but the Zouks still found a way to lose it by three wickets with two balls remaining....

They made 167-7 batting first, thanks to 50s from Sohail Tanvir and Johnson Charles, while there were two wickets each for medium pacers Kyle Mayers and Kieron Pollard. Jason Holder hit 48 and Pollard 37 not out to guild Barbados to victory, while young pacer Ray Jordan's 3-39 was too expensive.

I've just caught up with Jamaica vs Guyana, and what a match it was! It started with Gayle clowning around, doing a good impression of Danny Morrison, and when asked if there were any changes, said, "Yes, one. My sunglasses!"
Lendl Simmons and Jimmy Neesham both hit 30s as Guyana struggled to 137-9, restricted by Jerome Taylor's 3-14. Mohammed Hafeez then took 2-13 to have Jamaica in dire straits at 62-4 in the 14th over, but then Andre Russell hit a whirlwind 58 not out off 24 balls to carry Jamaica to a six-wicket win off the last ball, when he needed a six to win it - and he hit it!

In another pathetic performance from St Lucia, Trinidad won by eight wickets with more than five overs to spare. Shannon Gabriel (3-20), Kevon Cooper (3-26) and Dwayne Bravo (3-33) bowled St Lucia out for a paltry 117, Andre Fletcher topscoring with a laboured 24. Evin Lewis then hit 59 from just 39 balls, while the only two wickets to fall went to young pacer Ray Joseph.

Jamaica had an easy 19-run win over Barbados on Sunday. Batting first, the Jamaicans made 147-8 thanks to 42 from Owais Shah, while Chris Gayle made 39, against pacers Ravi Rampaul (4-18) and Rayad Emrit (3-35). Then, Jamaican pacers Jerome Taylor (2-11) and Dave Bernard (2-20) restricted Barbados to 128-6, as Shoaib Malik played a lone hand with 81 not out from 43 balls.

In a match reduced to 16 overs by rain from the remnants of Hurricane Bertha, St Lucia beat Antigua by five wickets with more than two overs to spare. Sohail Tanvir took 3-15 to restrict Antigua to 103-6, Danza Hyatt topscoring with a laboured 26, and then Henry Davids hit 43 to lead St Lucia to victory, against Gavin Tonge's 2-12.

In a high-scoring match in St Kitts, Guyana beat Antigua by 19 runs. Batting first, Guyana made 212-5 thanks to knocks of 90 from 51 balls from Martin Guptill and 51 from 34 from Denesh Ramdin, while Gavin Tonge took two wickets. Then, a hobbling Marlon Samuels hit 106 not out from just 52 balls, with 10 boundaries and eight sixes, but it was not enough as Antigua closed on 193-3. Orlando Peters provided a good supporting act with 67 from 45 balls, while Sunil Narine was the most economical bowler as usual, with only 16 runs conceded from his four overs.

Barbados hammered Trinidad by 69 runs with more than three overs to spare. Raymon Reifer hit 65 not out from just 41 balls, and there were 30s from Shoaib Malik and Kieran Pollard, as Barbados rattled up 174-5, Samuel Badree taking 2-20 off his four overs. Then, pacers Jason Holder (4-27) and Rayad Emrit (3-23) routed Trinidad for just 105 all out, Nicholas Pooran topscoring with 33.
