New year. New you. New List. Fresh start. Only a Top 3 this week, however, as only 6 players have completed games - and the bottom two both got the same score.

Weekly Update

1. Devon Conway - 172 - Starting the year with a century is a good way to kick start your life in the list. Being the leading Cricketer after the Week 1 can be a poisoned chalice. Jamieson, Williamson. Guptil, Olivier and Buttler have all done it...& then not set the world alight

2. Hardik Pandya - 111 - We have a lot of all-rounders in our List this year and Pandya was the only one that really showed that this week; contributing in 4 different disciplines to finish in second place.

3. Suryakumar Yadav - 108 - One poor score plus one decent one often sees you in the mix and such is the case for SKY this week. He has another T20 versus Sri Lanka to force his agenda and set the tone for things to come.

Articles say Bairstow slipped playing golf. And sustained triple fracture and dislocated ankle.

Seems like a bad golf injury.

Maybe safer horse racing or playing rugby.

Sorry, changed my post after I read how bad his injury was!

I mooted there might be something wrong with JB beyond his initial injury.

Feels like the first week where we have a decent whack of our cricketers playing. Only 6 were inactive - so who led the way?

Weekly

1.Usman Khawaja - 283 - His place on this List is built around the fact that on the occasions that he does play, he goes big to justify the lull in the middle of the year. This plan has certainly started very well with 195* in his first foray and then a BBL cameo.

2. Shubman Gill - 257 - Aided by the fact he has played in three games this week - but he has still done bloody well in 3 of them. Importantly he is starting to show his quality as a player across all 3 formats.

3. Devon Conway - 233 - Conway has been madly consistent for all of 2022 - but has scored 2 ducks in the first week of 2023. Luckily he has also bagged some big scores around that. After finishing top last week, he is third this one.

4. Babar Azam - 209 - Lots of speculation about Babar at the moment, but on the field he is doing the business as ever. Misfired in the 3rd ODI against New Zealand but scored two 50+ scores to make that all better.

5. Shakib Al Hasan - 195 - Is quite a decent cricketer if you put aside the fact that he is increasingly becoming something of a petulant pantomime villain. In amongst the histrionics there was one big game against Sylhet at the start of the BBL that saw him into the Top 5.

Overall

1. Devon Conway - 405 - Has twice finished in the top 3 of the week so, of course, holds his first place spot from Week 1. The 115 point gap to second place is the largest of any so far.

2. Suryakumar Yadav - 290 - Up a place from last week's bronze position - impressive since he only played the solitary T20 game today. Of course, it helps when you score 112 at 200+ Strike Rate.

3. Usman Khawaja - 283 - Our Test specialist players have a habit of huge surges up the table. Usman had yet to play before his 195* - and now debuts in 3rd place.

4. Shubman Gill - 269 - Had the joint lowest score alongside Rashid Khan at the end of Week 1. Rashid is now second bottom and Gill shoots into the Top 5. Fickle thing this game.

5. Babar Azam - 270 - The rest of the Top 5 is made up of players that did not feature in last year's list....but Babar is keeping it old school and rounds off our Top 5. He knocks Hardik Pandya into 6th spot.

Top 3 Averages

1. Devon Conway - 202.5
2. Shubman Gill - 145
3. Babar Azam - 135

Weekly Update

1. Shubman Gill - 464 - Not only won this week but got the 8th highest score in the 5-year history of the game. He really is in top top form.

2. Shakib Al Hasan - 349 - Shakib bemoaned the running of the BPL at the start of the tournament but is certainly enjoying it now. Two scores of 80+ in his two games this week all with stonking Strike Rates see him doing the business once more.

3. Marco Jansen - 309 - Taking the SA20 by storm. I expected a majority of his points to be scored in Long Form cricket this year but he will certainly be turning heads with his performances here. His 27 ball 66 will be one of the knocks of the tournament.

4. Rashid Khan - 125 - Bit of a slow start to 2023 - despite the fact that he has already turned out for 2 teams in 2 different tournaments in 2 different continents but 3 OK-ish performances in SA20 sees him in the Top 5 for the first time since 2020.

5. Sam Curran - 83 - Not quite grabbed the Sa20 by the scruff of the neck but 3 wickets in two games has seen him just about pip Jos Buttler into the Top 5 for the week.

Overall

1. Shubman Gill - 743 - Always a lot of movement at this stage but Gill has jumped from 4th to 1st AND put a 199 point gap between him and second place. Such a strong January for the wunderkind.

2. Shakib Al Hasan - 544 - Up 5 places this week thanks to some extraordinary knocks for Barishal. This tournament goes on forever so he could really put a healthy lead on the rest of the pack if his franchise goes all the way.

3. Devon Conway - 415 - Pros and Cons for Conway. Only 10 points this week but, such was his excellent form in the first fortnight of the tournament, he only drops down to third.

4. Marco Jansen - 390 - One amazing performance and two other good ones sees Jansen jump up from 10th spot to 4th this week.

5. Suryakumar Yadav - 355 - Has not yet had the impact in his embryonic One Day career as we have seen in the shortest format, however holds onto his top 5 place. He has a 28 point lead on Usman Khawaja.

Ones To Watch

Right at the foot of the table there is two points between a pair of players who really and truly have no business in franchise cricket. It is a tussle between Harmer and Warner as to who can be the less bad over the next 7 days.

Top 3 Averages

1. Shakib Al Hasan - 272
2. Shubman Gill - 257.67 (Up from 128.5)
3. Usman Khawaja - 243.5

Obviously, Gill's 119.17 improvement is the biggest upward swing - Devon Conway's negative of 64.17 is the largest decrease.
