Despite the delayed nature of the update the cut off was still Friday evening - this basically means the India v Pakistan game rolls over until next.

Weekly Top 5

1. Shakib Al Hasan - 215 - Shakib managed to fit 3 World Cup games into this week and performed well in two of those to finish the week with the highest score. Only Harmer has more Cricketers of the Week awards.

2. Marco Jansen - 148 - 4 wickets split equally across 2 World Cup games plus a few bonus points from Strike rate and Fielding means he finishes in second place. Also moves into 11th place overall.

3. Ravindra Jadeja - 130 - One perfect World Cup game for Jadeja this week...followed by a more average one sees him finish in the bronze medal place. He moves up a place into 6th overall.

4. Devon Conway - 117 - Failed to live up to his stonking first outing in the World Cup but still putting in decent shifts.

5. Jos Buttler - 100 - A blistering 20 followed by three catches with the gloves. One of those very impactful T20 performances that doesn't really transfer to an impactful amount of points.

Overall

1. Shakib Al Hasan - 4525 - Back up to top spot after a fortnight away...however fans will be concerned after he was taken away for scans after the New Zealand game. That lead doesn't look comfortable.

2. Simon Harmer - 4432 - Uncertain if or when Harmer will start up in South African cricket but he is beginning to slide. Third is catching up with him but there is an eye-watering 745 points between him and 6th spot.

3. Jos Buttler - 4421 - Despite finishing in the weekly Top 5, Buttler moved DOWN this week. THis should not be for long, you would imagine.

4. Shubman Gill - 4184 - Struck down with illness for the first two World Cup games. No pressure from below and on his way back to fitness. Should retain fourth for a while and could move up with a return to form.

5. Devon Conway - 3761 - Holds on to his Top 4 spot for the second week but has Conway, Jadeja and Curran breathing down his neck. The gap between him and 4th spot is nearing half a thousand points.

Ones To Watch

A decent Jos Buttler could finish the week anywhere between 4th and first this week.

Top 3 Averages

1. Simon Harmer - 184.67
2. Shakib Al Hasan - 161.61 (Up from 159.26)
3. Shubman Gill - 154.96

David Warner improves his average again. Over the last week he has crawled from bottom spot to being on the verge of three figures per active week. Usman Khawaja's poor domestic form sees his average continue to descend.

Weekly Top 5

1. Rashid Khan - 211 - Rashid has underperformed this year. He has played in 34 of the 42 weeks and has only been Cricketer of the Week once and his 7th place total is much lower than you'd expect - however that performance versus England will be one his all time best.

2. Ravindra Jadeja - 150 - Can never go too long without a big total and was back in form this week with two semi identical scores in the World Cup.

3. Shubman Gill - 129 - Had a below average game in his first match back from illness but bagged an effortless half century against Bangladesh to be back in the Top 5 once more.

4. Harry Brook - 106 - Just pops into triple figure scores with one of the few competent performances in that disappointing loss to Afghanistan. England need more of the same.

5. Marco Jansen - 89 - 80 is a very low score to be in the weekly Top 5 but a fairly comfortable bowling performance in the shock loss to the Netherlands manages to see him in the Top 5.

Overall Top 5

1. Shakib Al Hasan - 4525 - An inactive week courtesy of a quad injury - he is expected to return to the team at some point during the World Cup but has second place breathing down his neck.

2. Jos Buttler - 4470 - Always gets to the cusp or retaking first place....and then has a stinker of a week. I would expect him to be number one this time next week, though.

3. Simon Harmer - 4432 - Still not surfaced in South African domestic cricket but still is only 93 points away from first and 595 points away from fifth so he can afford to have his little break.

4. Shubman Gill - 4313 - The 476 points between him and fifth place is now the largest gap between any cricketers on our List. You would imagine he will be in the Top 5 come the end of the year.

5. Ravindra Jadeja - 3837 - Back in the Top 5 again after a fortnight away. Fifth place is the most fluid position on our List - 4 players have held 5th place in the last 2 months with nobody spending longer than a fortnight there.

Other Movers

Pat Cummins is back up off the bottom spot thanks to Jonny Bairstow's poor showing against Afghanistan.

Top 3 Averages

1. Simon Harmer - 184.67
2. Shakib Al Hasan - 161.61
3. Shubman Gill - 154.64 (Down from 154.96)

All active players this week took a knock to their average with the exception of Rashid Khan and Harry Brook. Despite this Brook's 88.45 is the lowest average points per week of any of our 19 players.

Weekly Top 5

1. David Warner - 387 - Two stellar performances sees David Warner get his first Cricketer of the Week since last Summer. With him very unlikely to carry on into 2024 this might be the last time we see him atop our List...unless he continues to pull off miracles in CWC23

2. Marco Jansen - 236 - Is really marking himself out as a top class all rounder. Performed with both bat and ball in his two World Cup games this week and will feel hard done by to have only finished second. He moves up a place to 10th on the Overall List though.

3. Babar Azam - 132 - One decent performance and one average performance always gets you third place. He will have another two games for his weekly total this week but has now held 9th place for 3 months.

4. Pat Cummins - 118 - back playing regularly and therefore back to being a regular Top 5 entry. He has managed to move up a place on the Overall List for the second successive week. 17th is his highest placing since the middle of April.

5. Jonny Bairstow - 70 - It has been a low scoring week this week with the average points per active player at just 80. Bairstow very much takes the 'Best of the Rest; accolade....much helped by the fact he has played two games. Won't play many more though.

Overall Top 5

1. Shakib Al Hasan - 4546 - Back in action this week but his lead of 76 last week has been slashed to just 33 this week. None of our Top 5 are in amazing form this World Cup but one good performance could turn it.

2. Jos Buttler - 4513 - Is not taking the World Cup by the scruff of the neck BUT is 33 points off top spot and averaging 53 points per game so......

3. Simon Harmer - 4432 - Missing. One blonde spinner. Last seen in Northampton 4 weeks ago. May be seen soon in South Africa. Keep your eyes peeled.

4. Shubman Gill - 4359 - Only registered 46 points this week but is under zero pressure from 5th place will be looking to move up soon though.

5. Ravindra Jadeja - 3906 - Another week in his most favoured position on 5th. Is lucky that Conway performed so badly this week. He has extended his lead on 6th place to 95 points.

Ones To Watch

The closest cricketers to each other is the resurgent David Warner in 11th who is 16 points ahead of the descending Moeen Ali.

Top 3 Averages

1. Simon Harmer - 184.67
2. Shakib Al Hasan - 156.76 (Down from 161.61)
3. Shubman Gill - 150.31 (Down from 154.64)

Another week where all but 3 players' averages deteriorated. Shakib's was the worst - however he keeps his top 3 berth. David Warner improves the most thanks to his mammoth week - up 10.91 to 103.33.

Weekly Update

1. Marco Jansen - 250 - Finished second last week and has claimed top spot this week. Claims threefers for fun and then rocks up and smacks a high impact score of 20+. One of the stars of the World Cup. Remains 10th overall though.

2. Shubman Gill - 151 - Back in the swing of things after his illness. Was one of three players who were within a whisker of a century against Sri Lanka but enough to see him finish second.

3. Ravindra Jadeja - 143 - Slightly a victim of India's pace bowling strength, Jadeja bowled few overs than he has been doing up to this point. Still manages to finish in third spot.

4. Shakib Al Hasan - 128 - His little jaunt back to Bangladesh must have had some effect as he finishes in the Top 5 for the first time in this World Cup. A slow and steady 43 against Pakistan was his high water mark for the week.

5. David Warner - 121 - Warner would have killed for a score of 81 before this tournament, but such is his imperious form that this seems a rather unimpressive total. His third successive Top 5 score isn't to be sniffed at though.

Overall Top 5

1. Shakib Al Hasan - 4674 - Has now completed a month at top spot. Is facing very little pressure from those below him and extended his lead on second place this week.

2. Jos Buttler - 4543 - A mere 30 points this week for a despondent Jos. I keep expecting him to bang into life...however think this may be it for him in this World Cup.

3. Shubman Gill - 4510 - Up a place this week thanks to his big score against Sri Lanka. Last held this position for one week a month ago. You feel he might be looking up and not down this time though.

4. Simon Harmer - 4432 - A fifth inactive week and down to 4th. His lowest position in 3 and a half months. Should he play South African domestic cricket he now has 625 points to make up to get back to top spot.

5. Ravindra Jadeja - 4049 - Doing just enough to keep himself comfortably insulated in fifth spot. He has spent 42% of the year in this position. To put that in perspective, Rashid Khan's 6 weeks in 5th is the second most behind Jadeja's 18.

Other Movers

Despite a score of just 81, Suryakumar Yadav managed to move up a ridiculous two places this week to leapfrog the inactive Harry Brook and Hardik Pandya into 13th.

ones To Watch

Usman Khawaja's protracted spell on the sidelines could mean that, should Jonny Bairstow get more than 16 point this week, Ussie will be the third player to take up our bottom spot.

Top 3 Averages

1. Simon Harmer - 184.67
2. Shakib Al Hasan - 155. 8 (Down from 156.76)
3. Shubman Gill - 150.33 (Up from 150.31)

Jonny Bairstow continues to yo-yo up and down the averages. He depreciates by 3.21 points this week and now has the lowest average of anyone - 84.9. Marco Jansen moves up by 5.04 points. He sores 113.82 per active week.

Weekly Top 5

1. Ravindra Jadeja - 239 - Jadeja produces one of the bowling performances of the World Cup to win his fourth Cricketer of the Week award. This makes 2023 his most successful year of the two years he has been selected.

2. Moeen Ali - 206 - Waited until England were as good as out before reminding people that he is a competent allrounder. This is his second highest score of a disappointing year for Mo.

3. Shakib Al Hasan - 172 - Has ended the World Cup in decent form after a torrid first two thirds of the tournament. He has now had two successive weeks in the Weekly Top 5.

4. Rashid Khan - 165 - Hasn't been in great form with the bat this tournament but turned it on in a thriller against Australia to boost him into the Top 5.

5. Usman Khawaja - 157 - His first taste of Sheffield Shield action this year and straight back with a century and a Top 5 berth.

Overall Top 5

1. Shakib Al Hasan - 4846 - The last two weeks has seen him reopen the gap on the chasing pack - who are more wheezing than sprinting after him. Is likely to finish the year in the Top 3 - you would imagine!

2. Jos Buttler - 4579 - Another stinker for Jos and is a very lucky boy indeed to still be in second place. His misery will soon be over.

3. Shubman Gill - 4543 - Seems to oscillate between one good week and one bad week in this World Cup. If he had a good week he would have moved into second.....but he didn't. Just 33 from the Prince today.

4. Simon Harmer - 4432 - Holding on to fourth despite another week with zero cricket.

5. Ravindra Jadeja - 4288 - Despite a weekly top score he still remains in fifth spot and is almost 150 points away from fourth. However there are at least 2 more matches for India in this World Cup so a move up is on the cards.

Top 3 Averages

1. Simon Harmer - 184.67
2. Shakib Al Hasan - 156.32 (Up from 155. 8)
3. Ravindra Jadeja - 153.14 (Up from 149.96)

Shubman Gill is out of the Top 3 highest averages and saw his average decrease by the most this week; down 3.78 to 146.55. Moeen improved his dire average by 3.56. His average of 88.68 is the third worst of anyone.

less than a 100 now :scared

RK's match didn't make the cut today.

Shakib has a busted finger and his WC is over. He might struggle to play much more this year. A broken finger usually takes about a month.... for anyone not called Collingwood, that is

Babar has 2 tests v Australia whilst RK has 5 possible matches in the BBL, so Babar should be able to help Red over the line, even if RK has a good BBL and Shakib doesn't play again

Weekly Top 5

1. Shubman Gill - 221 - Certainly back in form after a bnit of a dip in the 3rd quarter of the year. Still has one more game of the World Cup to continue his fine form.

2. David Warner - 152 - Shows no sign of slowing down in his final tilt at World Cup glory. Has been a constant feature in the weekly Top 5s over the last month. Can he put on a good show in the Final?

3. Pat Cummins - 134 - Nobody can begrudge Cummins' success (apart from maybe Langer). Bagged a 3fer in the semi-final and has one last chance to continue his ascent up the Overall table. He will need 514 points to move into 15th so all 10 wickets and a double century will do it

4. Ravindra Jadeja - 90 - Bit of a quiet week for Jadeja despite the two games. One of the big stars of the final could just have one more last trick to pull.

5. Jonny Bairstow - 89 - Saved his 'best' til last. A cautious knock of 59 ends his World Cup with him just nudging into fifth spot.

Overall

1. Shakib Al Hasan - 4846 - His flexi-time approach to this World Cup continued this week as he missed their final game. Retains top spot but has a lead of just 82.

2. Shubman Gill - 4764 - Gill does not like second place. he has not spent a single week outside our Top 5 this year but has only spent 3 weeks in 2nd and never spent more than 1 week in that position. Could he add to his 15 weeks spent at Number 1 next update?

3. Jos Buttler - 4636 - To say that Buttler has been disappointing this World Cup is something of an understatement. Perhaps it is quite poetic that he loses second place in his final outing.

4. Simon Harmer - 4432 - Genuinely impressive just how long he is holding on for. 57 points left in it though.

5. Ravindra Jadeja - 4375 - Another week in fifth for Jadeja. You wouldn't expect anything less by now. He has a 339 point on Rashid Khan in 6th.

Other Movers

Perhaps surprisingly, Harry Brook did enough this week to move above the inactive Hardik Pandya to regain 14th place.

Top 3 Averages

1. Simon Harmer - 184.67
2. Shakib Al Hasan - 156.32
3. Ravindra Jadeja - 150.97 (Down from 153.14)

Shubman Gill's top scoring week sees his average swell by 2.33 whilst Marco Jansen's high profile zero sees his drop by a rather cruel 3.7.

well, I'm just about hanging in there. I have no idea how long Shakib will be out injured for, or what Babar has planned for the rest of his year

Hopefully RK will rock up and do well in the BBL. SRH appears to be on a beach somewhere

does beach cricket count Prof?
