Well, that was a disaster. Lesson: don't pick international players, even if they aren't on international duty all season...

Someone's made a scheduling balls-up. Double header yesterday, then no match today - the Australia Day public holiday.

well, the eliminator was a hugely unsatisfactory affair. Thunder knocked out after barely starting their reply. If they hadn't lost that one wicket they'd probably have gone through, despite having had no chance at all to chase down a massive total.

an excellent qualifier for me. Hardie and Inglis failed with the bat, Behrendorff shone with the ball, Scorchers, with all Pele's unique players, go straight to the final, while 2 of my uniques get the chance to perhaps play two matches instead of one

Scorchers were struggling at 22-3, but came home at a canter thanks in some measure to some very defensive captaincy from Henriques. Abbott got Sixers off to an absolute flyer with 3-8 off his first two overs, but instead of trying to keep the pressure on at the end of the 4 over PP, Henriques opted instead to push the field back and bring on the spinners, giving Bangers and Tina every chance in the world to rebuild. Wasn't even close, in the end

Thunders mediocre season ends with a damp fizzle. Seems a bit of a harsh result on DLS given they were more of less where Heat were at the same point and hadn't really had a chance to get motoring. Still, they were never going to win the comp - Scorchers v Sixers will probably be the final.

Geez, the BBL is still going on.

Australian open final was yesterday, Australia Day last week, schools back tomorrow - this week is really the week that it feels like summer is over, and the tournament still has a week to run. And it's been going on since before Christmas. It's clearly too long, as the in-and-out of both Australian internationals and overseas players shows - it's too long for people to commit to a full tournament. It's daft that the Australian internationals are disappearing off for an overseas tour before this is concluded.

amidst all the excitement of this tournament, perfectly judged in terms of its length, where interest remains almost at fever pitch, none of the players have buggered off to do something better and where not a day has been wasted at this, the height of the Australian cricketing summer. No chance of teams or fans twiddling their thumbs waiting for the next match as day after day of glorious cricketing weather passes by unsullied by anything to do with cricket. If only the ECB could come up with a schedule as succinct as this one, thanks to CA........... I forgot the final was on yesterday..... sorry

That seems pretty comfortable

Somehow Perth win a match they had no right to win. When the new boy promptly ran out the only guy likely to get them over the line I thought it was all over. Two cold batters, masses of pressure, too many runs, not enough overs left in the game, yet they did it with 4 balls to spare. Remarkable turnaround
