I knew that Head had only scored 6 runs in the Aussie first innings, so when I saw that Aus had won by 10 wickets, I assumed that would be his haul for the match. A quick look at the scorecard to see if he'd taken a catch or something in the 3rd innings revealed that he'd come on at the end and taken 4 wickets... woo hoo!

the only downer was that he took them in 2 overs and 5 balls, so doesn't earn 30 econ bonus points. Still...... woo hoo anyway... the extra 100 points is definitely a bonus for my team, especially with SRH earning 600 and plenty points

Weekly

1. Simon Harmer - 659 - A record breaking week for Harmer. His weekly total is the highest ever recorded on our List - overtaking Marnus Labuschagne 641 from this time last year. It is also his 30th time topping the Weekly List. His nearest rival is Stokes with just 13.

2. Jonny Bairstow - 373 - In only 24 weeks between now and 2018 would Bairstow's total last week not have seen him top the weekly List but such is the vagaries of the English Summer. YJB moves up an astronomical 5 places to 12th on the overall List.

3. Mohammad Rizwan - 270 - His return stint to Sussex has yielded two successive 200 points weeks before he jogs back off to represent Pakistan later this month.

4. Joe Root - 181 - More of an all round performance from Honest Joe this week but 86* is never to be sniffed at. He is up to seventh place - his highest position of the year so far.

5. Rishabh Pant - 126 - Leicestershire's Rishabh Pant.....yes, that's right....warmed up for the Eng vs Ind series with a comfortable cameo for the County setup.

Overall

1. Simon Harmer - 3339 - When you are already leading the pack and then get the highest points score ever, you are very likely to continue in top spot. In fact, it might be a very long while until we see anybody eat into Harmer's 758 lead.

2. Mohammad Rizwan - 2581 - Rizwan has 'done a Labuschagne' and used a spell at a Division Two team to shore up his position in the Top 5. He now has a fortnight off but the gap between second and third is the third largest on our list.

3. Marnus Labuschagne - 2221 - Scored the second lowest total of the week...but still managed to move up into third.

4. Glenn Maxwell - 2203 - Despite the hype, was inactive this week and drops a place because of it.

5. Rishabh Pant - 2126 - Started his mini tour of England with a good game for Leicestershire and moves back into the Top 5 again after 2 weeks away.

Ones To Watch

Again it is Labuschagne and Maxwell. Marnus is now 18 ahead of Glenn but, should Maxi play, it is all up for grabs.

Top Three Averages

1. Simon Harmer = 208.69 (Up from 178.67)
2. Babar Azam = 157.33
3. Ben Stokes = 156.42 (Down from 167.18)

A fortnight ago, Harmer was the biggest loser and Stokes the biggest winner - this week it is reversed....however both hold on to their place in the Top 3.

good luck stopping Arthur this week

nearly 600 runs and 7 catches, plus something like 130 points in bonuses. Arthur might just about be team of the week ;)

Hopefully the tragic state of the UK's airports will stop Root and Bairstow jetting off for a month long rest and recuperation break in the middle of summer this year.

Last week we saw a huge amount of points shared between a great many players; this time i=out we only had 6 active cricketers but all of them scored more than 100 points. Let's see who prevailed.

Weekly Top 3

1. Rishabh Pant - 323 - Despite his team not winning the final Eng v Ind Test and despite his innings not necessarily sticking in the mind anymore, Pant did score big and claims his first Cricketer of the Week award.

2. Jonny Bairstow - 290 - Bairstow finished second last week - and then goes on to score two centuries....and still finishes second this week. Thems the breaks huh? Moves up two places to 10th.

3. Joe Root - 283 - What a Summer it is turning out to be for Root....again. Rounds off the first section of the Red Ball Summer with another century and a third placed finish.

Overall Top 5

1. Simon Harmer - 3481 - Scored the fewest points of anyone this week but benefitted from the fact that last week's 2nd, 3rd and 4th placed Cricketers were inactive this week. Is now 900 points clear at the top of the List.

2. Mohammad Rizwan - 2581 - The first of two inactive weeks for Rizwan - but he manages to just about hold off a surge and keep his second place berth.

3. Rishabh Pant - 2449 - Pant moves up and down the Top 5 of this List like a hyperactive child at a birthday party. This is his highest position for 6 weeks.

4. Joe Root - 2270 - Root's year is the inverse of last year's. In 2021 he stayed in the Top 5 for the majority of the first half of the year and then began to drift down as the nights drew in. This year he is doing the opposite. This is his debut in the Top 5.

5. Marnus Labuschagne - 2221 - Inactive this week but is in action in SL v Aus...and doing rather well before next week.

Other Movers

Just to round off the week, the other 2 active players also moved up a spot this week. Ben Stokes moves up from 10th to 9th, whilst Moeen Ali's T20 Blast and Eng v Ind double headers sees him reclaim 7th.

Top Three Averages

1. Simon Harmer = 204.77 (Down from 208.69)
2. Joe Root = 162.14 (Up from 152.85)
3. Ben Stokes = 160.15 (Up from 156.42)

Only one of our 6 active players moved down in terms of average and that was Simon Harmer who still retains an average above 200 points a week. Rishabh Pant swelled his average the most - up 10.31 points to 116.62.

Woah! How did that happen.

But as the old saying goes, you can't win without Harmer.
