Weekly Top 3 (Not enough for a Top 5)

1. Ben Stokes - 260 - By some distance, Stokes best week of the year. It is, however, the third lowest total for a Cricketer of the Week in 2021.

2. Virat Kohli - 202 - Gave top spot a run for his money but fell just short. Perhaps that slow Strike Rate cost him the points to claim back to back Cricketer of the Weeks. Has moved from 16th to 7th in the last fortnight.

3. Peter Siddle - 173 - Siddle back to his more favoured form of the game sees him back in the wickets and back near the top of the points table for the week. He also moves up two spots on the overall list to 12th.

Overall Top 5

1. Joe Root - 1498 - Such was the strength of Root's early year performance that 3 inactive weeks still sees him comfortably in top spot.

2. Ravichandran Ashwin - 1438 - There is a clamour for Ashwin to be playing White Ball cricket ....as it stands he is doing rather well without it. Still 2nd despite three inactive weeks.

3. Marnus Labuschagne - 1389 - Was inactive this week but faced no pressure behind him so still has his 320 point lead on fourth spot.

4. Nicholas Pooran - 1069 - Up until this week Pooran was the most active Cricketer on our List with 9 weeks out of 12. His first week off has not cost him a place.

5. Ben Stokes - 982 - Stokes makes his 2021 Top 5 debut. After finishing second last year despite leading the way for the majority of the year, can he go one better this time out?

Other Mover

Moeen Ali (From 16th to 15th) An effective, if not eye-catching performance form Moeen Ali sees him overtake Quinton De Kock into 15th.

Highest Players by Format

Long Form - Joe Root - 1498
50 Over - Nicholas Pooran - 431
T20 - Glenn Maxwell - 822

Top 3 Average Points Per Active Week

1. Ravichandran Ashwin - 287.6
2. Steve Smith - 216.67
3. Joe Root – 214

No change in the top 3 but Moeen Ali places in fourth spot with an average of 209.5. The biggest improvement was Stokes who moved up 19.96 points to 140.29 a week. The biggest decrease was Dawid Malan who dropped 12.64 to 92.14 a week - the second lowest of anyone on The List.

Weekly Top 5

1. Marnus Labuschagne - 178 - After a couple of weeks without scoring points a return to the Marsh Cup sees Marnus top the List for the week for the second time in 2021. It is, however, the lowest winning total of 2021 and the 13th lowest ever.

2. Babar Azam - 153 - Was going great guns in the PSL before it's postponement but hasn't dropped a beat. A century in the first ODI is enough for second. Moves up to joint 7th on the overall List....alongside one Mr Virar Kohli.

3. Steve Smith - 126 - A month out of the game but a good return to form in the Marsh Cup with a decent score in the 80s for New South Wales. Moves up a place on the overall List to 10th.

4. Dawid Malan - 90 - A tour that was plagued with criticism ended in good form. A half century and a place in the Weekly Top 10 for Malan. Has also moved up two places on the overall list to 11th.

5. Moeen Ali - 89 - No pyrotechnics but some very dependable performances in the India series sees Ali round off a controversial tour with a top 5 place. Finishes on 14th on the Overall List.

Overall Top 5

1. Marnus Labuschagne - 1567 - It has always seemed a matter of time before Marnus stole back top spot but nobody expected it to be 8 weeks. There is still domestic action to play out for Queensland so could put some light between him and Root.

2. Joe Root - 1498 - Another inactive week for Root has finally paid it's price. Down to second.

3. Ravichandran Ashwin - With IPL 2021 round the corner, Ashwin's drop to third place shouldn't be too devastating. With a good competition he could be rising back up the ranks soon enough.

4. Nicholas Pooran - 1069 - Despite last week's numbers 5-8 all being active this week, the inactive Pooran still holds on to fourth spot by the skin of his teeth. There is just 22 points between him and Rajasthan's Ben Stokes.

5. Ben Stokes - 1047 - All in all a quiet series for Atokes but he still ends it 8 places better off. He heads off to IPL 2021 in fifth spot.

Highest Players by Format

Long Form - Joe Root - 1498

Top 3 Average Points Per Active Week

1. Ravichandran Ashwin = 287.6
2. Joe Root = 213
3. Steve Smith = 194 (Down from 216.67)

The 'largest' increase in weekly average this week was a measly 2.2 from Babar Azam who moved up to 142. Moeen Ali came crashing down from 209.5 per active week to 169.33 - that still puts him in fourth place in terms of averages.

no..... he was given a week off before the final game and he had a few days on the gold coast, just as Brisbane had a covid outbreak . Despite not being anywhere near Brisbane itself, and despite heading home immediately, WA covid restrictions meant he couldn't fly there, even though he could have played in any other state

strange times

everybody needs to get used to staying at home whenever they get a few days off work....... don't go to the gold coast to buy bananas.... get them delivered

Weekly Top 5

1. Peter Handscomb - 217 - This is the second time Handscomb has combined a decent(ish) Sheffield Shield game with a strong Marsh Cup fixture to top the weekly charts.

2. Babar Azam - 185 - Another classy performance for Pakistan vs South Africa has seen Babar finish second for the second week in a row.

3. Marnus Labuschagne - 172 - This time Marnus showed that he can produce the goods in the longest form as well as in 50 Over cricket. He is one of just two players to have scored 250+ points in each form of the game.

4. Quinton De Kock - 130 - Seems a while since QDK's last big score, so his farewell 80 before chipping off to IPL 2021 will be well received. He moves up two spots to 14th in the overall list.

5. Virat Kohli - 73 - Finished Game One of IPL 2021 with the most points of any of the three featured players. Early days but Kohli averaged a decent 48.67 points per game last season so we know he can produce.

Overall Top 5

1. Marnus Labuschagne - 1739 - Finishes in the top three for the week and opens up a 241 point gap in first place.

2. Joe Root - 1498 - His last inactive week of 5 and he only drops the solitary place. Not bad going for Honest Joe.

3. Ravichandran Ashwin - 1438 - Is about to embark on his IPL 2021 journey. There will be a lot of movement around him but can he hold his own?

4. Peter Handscomb - 1223 - Mr Consistent fights his wat back into the top 5 after a fortnight out of the picture. No player on our List has featured more than Handscomb.

5. Nicholas Pooran - 1069 - After holding on to fourth place for seven weeks, Pooran has one too many inactive weeks and drops down a place to fifth.

Highest Players by Format

Long Form - Joe Root - 1498
50 Over - Nicholas Pooran - 431

Top 3 Average Points Per Active Week

2. Joe Root = 213

Jasprit Bumrah was the biggest loser in terms of his average - dropping 14.33 points to 94 points per week. Handscomb was the biggest improvement as he moved up 10.58 points per week to 111.18.
