Welcome to Round 1 of the draft for the fourth instalment of the All Year Fantasy competition.

The only thing that is guaranteed is that nothing is guaranteed. Over the last three years we have had three different winners and three different players at the top of the rankings. Let's see what this year holds.....

The random order for the draw runs as such:

Men In Blue
DiligentDefence
Red Devil
Red Devil Junior
The Professor
DurhamFootMan
ArthurCrabtree
Red Twins

Let's see how the first round of allocations go.....

Men In Blue is up first with a clean slate after discarding all players from last year. His first choice was also his first choice three years ago. It is welcome home to Virat Kohli who rejoins Adi's team after two years with two different contributors.

DD has retained second bottom placed Peter Handscomb. The Australian is joined by a newcomer to our list and the fourth West Indian to feature. Welcome aboard Nicholas Pooran. DD's team is complete.

2018 champion Red Devil retains Glenn Maxwell for a third year. He also adds Babar Azam to what is looking like an imperiously strong team. His team is complete.

Moving down a generation, Red Devil Junior also chose to keep an Aussie in the form of Marnus Labuschagne and just like Papa swoops for a big name. He picks up the discarded Steve Smith. Completed team.

Next up, The Professor who discarded both of his players form 2019 and gets his first choice player. It is a welcome back for Ravi Ashwin who has had two years away from these lists but returns for 2021.

Alviro also pressed the reset button on his team. He gets his first choice pick Moeen Ali

DurhamFootman was the contributor most effected by Covid but stays true to his County Championship picks. He retain Simon Harmer, despite the fact he finished outside the top ten for the year, and picks up Peter Siddle. His team is done.

Penultimately comes ArthurCrabtree. He keeps the England captain Joe Root. When it comes to his second choice he has been somewhat thwarted. His first choice was Smith and Kohli was choice two. He has been successful in his third choice. Welcome back to Kane Williamson who was unselected in 2020 but returns for a third year in 2021. Team complete.

Finally comes newcomer Red Twins. The new franchise was also keen on Smith and Kohli but get their third choice in the form of Jasprit Bumrah

Round Two to follow shortly.

I hope I haven't dropped a clanger with Siddle. I had hoped to go with Bancroft, but although he's expected to rejoin Durham for the whole of the season it hasn't actually been confirmed yet. My next choice was going to be Joe Denly, but I got a bit spooked by not scoring any points in 2020 until the CC started (which I wasn't expecting), and so picked someone that I hope will play a full part in the Aussie domestic season and then play a full part in the county season. Denly as part of a 3 man team would have suited me very well... hey ho!

Round 2

Working from bottom to top to complete teams.

Red Twins get their next pick, David Warner returns for his third year on the list.

Alviro makes his pair an English only affair as he adds Dawid Malan to Moeen Ali to complete his team.

The Professor cannot believe his luck as he manages to snag Ben Stokes so deep into the draft.

MIB rounds us off with the third player to return to the list after a respite. Quinton de Kock was in the 2018 list but rejoins us in 2021.

The Top 5

1. Kane Williamson - 318 - This is WIlliamson's 103 week on our List and his very first Cricketer of the Week. He has hit the ground running with a huge score thanks to 238 against Pakistan.

2. Dawid Malan - 191 - Malan finished 2021 in the same vein of form he ended 2020. The highlight of his week was 75 for Hobart against Melbourne Stars. He leads us out in terms of T20 players.

3. Glenn Maxwell - 186 - The back end of 2020 saw Maxwell playing some box office cricket. He was not as high profile this week but still got a decent score of 70 for Melbourne Stars against Hobart.

4. Peter Handscomb - 134 - Will be hoping to put a torrid 2020 behind him. The highest he ever got in 2020 was 14th on the List so to debut in 4th spot gives him hope for the New Year.

5. Quinton De Kock - 110 - Poor form with the bat but great keeping sees him finish in the Top 5 for the week. He will hope for improvement in front of the stumps going forward.

The Weekly Top 5

1. Marnus Labuschagne - 284 - Always starts a year strongly. His previous Cricketer of the Week accolade came in the second week of January 2020. Can he keep his form up this year?

2. Steve Smith - 284 - Smith put some poor form at the end of 2020 behind him to finish second in his first active week of 2020 thanks to a match-winning 131 + 81 for Australia v England.

3. Glenn Maxwell - 167 - The Big Show showed his prowess with the ball this week with 65.87% of his points coming from his less favoured discipline. It is his second successive week in the top 5.

4. Ravichandran Ashwin - 149 - If we gave points for courage and determination he would be much further up....but we don't...so he isn't.

5. Jasprit Bumrah - 130 - Not as an electric a start from Bumrah as we might have expected but a decent enough yield from the debutant.

The Overall Top 5

1. Glenn Maxwell - 353 - Being one of just three players to have been active in both weeks of this year has helped to propel Maxwell back to top spot again. The last time he held this lofty accolade was in the last week of 2019 where he was crowned Cricketer of the Year.

2. Kane Williamson - 318 - Such was the weight of Williamson's haul in that final Test against Pakistan, he can go inactive this week and still remain in second place overall.

3. Marnus Labuschagne - 284 - This week's top scorer sees himself in third from his debut appearance of 2021. With another Test currently underway, Marnus has upward momentum.

4. Steve Smith - 262 - Smith spent a lot of time last year in the Top 5 before a poor IPL saw him drop down to his final position of 9th. Debuting in 4th, can he do better his year?

5. Dawid Malan - 201 - Despite just 10 points this week, Malan's first week score of 191 sees him just about hold off Ravichandran Ashwin for a place in the Overall Top 5.

Averages Points per Active Week

1. Glenn Maxwell - 176.5
2. Dawid Malan - 100.5
3. Peter Handscomb - 73.5
