Weekly Top 5

1. Simon Harmer - 140 - A sixth Cricketer of the Week accolade for Simon Harmer, however 140 is the 5th lowest winning total for the week we've ever had.

2. Peter Handscomb - 129 - Things haven't really been clicking for Handscomb for Middlesex but he had a good outing against Durham in the RLODC to finish in second place for the week.

3. Dawid Malan - 121- Malan always starts very well in competitions and then fades away; The Hundred has been no different. He scored 90% of this total in his first game against the Southern Brave. The other 10% game from his other two matches.

4. Nicholas Pooran - 92 - Pooran is quietly grafting away in his home Summer. This is his third successive Top 5 finish for the week. His average of 93.88 points per active week does look low though.

5. Moeen Ali - 75 - After finishing top of the tree last week, he had a more subdued week this time. He has also moved upwards in the Overall List - he is now in sixth spot

Overall Top 5

1. Marnus Labuschagne - 3833 - The first week of, what is expected to be, a quite lengthily lay off sees Marnus' lead at the top down to a mere 828. To put that into context, that is 28 points less than David Warner has scored in whole of 2021.

2. Simon Harmer - 3005 - A decent RLODC series of performances sees his lead on third place extend.

3. Joe Root - 2740 - An underwhelming cameo in The Hundred sees second place slip further away from him. He needs to be looking over his shoulder now too.

4. Babar Azam - 2565 - Rain saw Babar inactive this week but will be looking to do bits in the Caribbean.

5. Quinton De Kock - 2102 - QDK hasn't brought his international form to The Hundred but manages to hold down 5th for a second week.

1. Marnus Labuschagne - 191.65
3. Ravichandran Ashwin - 189.4
3. Simon Harmer - 187.81 (Down from 191)

Old school cricket fans across the country rejoice. The most improved player this week was RLODC player Peter Handscomb (Up by 2.13 points to 92.72 pts a week) whilst The Hundred's Joe Root drops 7.19 points to 152.22.

Weekly Top 5

Only a Top 3 this week as only 6 players featured; two of whom scored the same number of points. This does not include Malan's game on Friday night.

1. Moeen Ali - 165 - Moeen uses The Hundred to lift himself to top spot for the second time in three weeks. 4 of the bottom 12 Weekly Totals have been registered in the last 3 months.

2. Simon Harmer - 159 - During the English Summer Harms is always in the points. Finishes second, but is a mere 6 points off of first.

3. Nicholas Pooran - 122 - One big score in a WI v Aus series in which rain would have scored a lot of points sees Pooran in the Top 3.

Other Mover

The only mover on the table this week was Dawid Malan whose half century against the Birmingham Phoenix sees him up to 11th

Overall Top 5

For the third week in a row the overall Top 5 stays the same; so that's

1. Marnus Labuschagne - 3833
2. Simon Harmer - 3174
3. Joe Root - 2740
4. Babar Azam - 2656
5. Quinton De Kock - 2209

Marnus' dominance has been rather outrageous this year. He has been in top spot for the Last 16 weeks. At one point his lead was as large as 968 points - that is now down to 669. How unbridgeable will that gap be?

At the same time that Marnus first graced the top of The List, Simon Harmer was in bottom place. His improvement has been steep.

Whilst the top 2 have stayed pretty stagnant, 3, 4 and 5 have been very fluid. Over the last 31 weeks there have been 22 different combinations of those three positions. This week is the first time three players have retained their respective places for three weeks on the trot.

The most fluid of these fluid places has been fifth place. De Kock holds 5th for the third week in a row, a feat that has only been achieved once before by Peter Handscomb in April. Moeen (in sixth) would need to score 129 points more than him this week to stop that

That being said, Azam is keeping fourth place warm for the last 12 weeks.

Highest Players by Format

Long Form - Joe Root - 2266
50 Over - Peter Handscomb = 613

1. Marnus Labuschagne - 191.65
3. Ravichandran Ashwin - 189.4
3. Simon Harmer - 186.13 (Down from 187.81)

All very fine margins now; Pooran is the 'biggest' improvement on his average as he goes up by 1.56. Azam goes down by 3.33 since last week.

Weekly Top 5

1. Jasprit Bumrah - 328 - Bumrah started the week as our lowest scoring, least active player who also had the lowest average of any one on our List. He has subsequently top scored for the week, moved up 3 places overall and improved his average by 25 points. Not a bad week.

2. Simon Harmer - 301 - Here he is again. Harmer has scored 300+ points ten times in a week and finished as the highest point scorer in each of them. This time he will have to settle for second.

N.B. This score does not include his ongoing match vs Yorkshire.

3. Quinton De Kock - 239 - On-song QDK is one of the most valuable players in white ball cricket and the Southern Brave are reaping the benefits of this at the moment with 2 half century scores over the last week

4. Joe Root - 233 - Root is used to carrying the weight of his England team on his shoulders and was forced to do so again in the First Test. He is rewarded with a place in the Top 5.

5. Moeen Ali - 149 - A strange week for Moeen. After scoring the highest points total of The Hundred so far he is yoinked away to the Test side. Can he keep up his good run and challenge for a Top 5 position next week?

Other Mover

For the second week in a row, Dawid Malan's score is not high enough to feature in the Top 5 for the week but sees him move up the overall table. His 76 points sees him up to 9th.

Overall Top 5

For the first time in 2021 the Top 5 remains the same for the fourth week in a row.

1. Marnus Labuschagne - 3833
2. Simon Harmer - 3465
3. Joe Root - 2973
4. Babar Azam - 2656
5. Quinton De Kock - 2448

Labuschgane's lead on second place is now down to a mere 368. This is the lowest it has been for 9 weeks. With second placed Harmer averaging 192.5 points a week, we could see a new man at the summit by the end of the month.

Highest Players by Format

1. Simon Harmer - 192.5 (Up from 186.13)
2. Marnus Labuschagne - 191.65
3. Ravichandran Ashwin - 189.4

As I have already mentioned, Bumrah's improvement of 25.09 is a huge boost. It has taken him off bottom spot and above Handscomb, Kohli, Malan, Williamson, Warner and Pooran in terms of average points per active week. Kohli's score of 0 from the First Test sees him fall by 7.07 points to 91.93 - the second lowest.

Re: 2021 All Year Fantasy Competition

Weekly Top 5

1. Joe Root - 303 - Winning Cricketer of the Week after such an abject team performance is like winning the handsomest man in the Burns Ward but here we are. This is Root's fourth time topping the weekly charts; he has never got more than three in any other year.

2. Moeen Ali - 226 - Fans of Moeen often cite his lack of consistency on the fact he is pulled from format to format and up and down the order. This is highlighted with a Test he wasn't expected to play in before a brief return to The Hundred. Finishes second though.

3. Simon Harmer - 202 - Harmer's involvement in the RLODC finished a match too early - but it is perhaps no coincidence that Essex fell on the match where he scored his third fewest points of the campaign.

4. Jasprit Bumrah - 174 - Scored considerably fewer points in the Second Test than he did in the first but still manages a decent spot on the Weekly List.

5. Dawid Malan - 106 - Probably one of the players that benefited the most from The Hundred on our List. Ends the tournament with a fifth placed finish for the week and a call up to the Test squad. Has moved up to 8th overall.

Other Mover

Virat scored points this week....which is an improvement on the First Test. Despite not registering in the Top 5 scores of the week he manages to overtake Glenn Maxwell and move into 13th.

Overall Top 5

For the 5th week in a row the Top 5 remain the same.

1. Marnus Labuschagne 3833
2. Simon Harmer 3667
3. Joe Root 3286
4. Babar Azam 2761
5. Quinton De Kock 2540

There is some sign of that breaking up though. Marnus' lead on Simon Harmer is now just 166. Short of something unexpected we are likely to see a new leader in due time.

Quinton De Kock also needs to be looking over his shoulder. He had a poor last three games of The Hundred and only has a 85 point cushion on Moeen Ali in 6th place.

One to Watch

A name to keep an eye on next week is Nicholas Pooran. It seems a life time ago but the West Indian spent most of the first third of the year in the Top 5. With the CPL starting next week he sits in 11th spot, 22 points off Handscomb in 10th and only 176 points off Ashwin in 7th.

The longest inactive is Wee Davie, who I had last year. I replaced him with Williamson, who is proving to be the Warner in waiting.
I always say that everybody's right.
