As the end of 2020 looms large over us, our yearly competition is stuttering to an end. And what a weird one it has been. Nobody knows what 2021 will bring but there should be more cricket now that we’ve got the hang of making it Covid friendly.
That means we can press the reset button on our List and start all over again. One variable in a year of variables is this…..I am undecided if we should swell the selection of players each member is allowed from two to three. If we have a smaller number of contributors I am more than happy to do three but if we have around the same as last year it will be too onerous a task. I will decide this over the course of the next week as it emerges how many players we have.
This thread is for the following.
Step 1
If you are a pre-existing player, you may only keep one of your 2020 players whilst the other needs to be reintroduced into the draft. Please can you declare which player you wish to retain and which you wish to release in the thread below. If you wish to release both players you can do that too.
If you did not play last year, please can you declare your interest to play in 2020.
Step 2 - 'Here comes the Science.'
Before 12 noon on the 27th of December, you must private message me your shortlist of six players you would like in order of preference. This will go forward into the silent auction that will take place on the 27th. I will conduct a random draw of Forum Members on the 27th and then use your lists to select your representatives for the forthcoming year. You can change your list as many times up until 12 noon on that Sunday and can select any player in the world as long as they are not retained by a current player. They will be allocated points for all forms of cricket they play in 2021 – including T10 tournaments and The Hundred. Like last year, I will be sending my list of six to the Independent Adjudicator - DFM.
Points remain the same
Batting
1 point for every run scored
A batsman scoring 50 will receive a 20pt bonus, with another 10pts for every further 50 runs scored
(ie. 50 = 20pts, 100 = 30pts, 150 = 40pts, 200+= 50pts)
A batsman scoring at least 20 runs, will receive.....
10 bonus pts for scoring at a strike rate of 80-99
20 bonus pts for scoring at a strike rate of 100-149
30 bonus pts for scoring at a strike rate of 150-199
40 bonus pts for scoring at a strike rate of 200+
Bowling
20pts per wicket
20 bonus pts for a 3fer
30 bonus pts for a 5fer
A bowler who has bowled at least 3 overs will receive.....
10 bonus pts for an economy rate of <=6.0
20 bonus pts for an economy rate of <=5.0
30 bonus pts for an economy rate of <=4.0
(ie. an ER of 4.25 scores 20pts)
Fielding
10 points per catch or stumping
20 points per run out, or 10 points each, if two players share the responsibility
10 bonus points for 3 contributions with catches, stumpings or run outs.
If there are any queries, comments or concerns just holla at your boy!
Happy picking.
